Since my TBR pile mountain is huge, I thought I’d select a few titles and why I want to read ’em.
The Devil You Know by Mike Carey. This guy has done a lot of work in comic books, most notably, the Hellblazer series. Now he’s written a novel about Felix Castor, an exorcist. Looks fabulous and it’s sitting on the shelf calling to me.
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. I’ve heard great things about KMM, but I’ve never read her. This book really caught my attention, so I plucked it up at Borders. Now, I just have to get the time to read it.
Vanquished by Hope Tarr — Sybil recommended Tarr to me, and since I’ve been on a Victorian kick lately, this one sounded really interesting.
Wings to the Kingdom by Cherie Priest. I loved the first book in this series about Eden Moore, who can see dead people. Priest has a lovely, dark and melodic writing style that makes me both love and hate her. There’s a 3rd book out now as well, so I really need to get caught up.
Holy Smokes by Katie MacAlister. Okay, so technically it’s not on my TBR because it hasn’t been released yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to the latest Aisling Grey installment. I love Jim, the slobbering demon. And who doesn’t love Drake?
Heart of Stone by CE Murphy. Gargoyles are cool. Plus, I really like Murphy’s voice. I’ve enjoyed her Walker Papers for Luna. Plus, Luna just has fabulous covers, don’t you think?
Okay, so have you read any of these books? What do you think? And what’s in your TBR?
Hi, Kathryn!
Nice to see you again. (We chatted at Historical Romance Club a couple of months ago.) From your TBR mountain you have to read the Moning. She’s just terrific. Do pick up her Kiss of the Highlander and The Dark Highlander. Those are on my keeper shelf — right next to yours! LOL, no kidding. I haven’t read her Fever books yet, but I’m dying to and I know they will be something that will blow me away.
My TBR mountain is now two mountains, but the one I really want to get to is the newest Ward, Lover Unbound. And I still have two Hoyts to read, plus a thousand others. You really don’t want to see my TRB books!
Great to have you here today!
I’ve listened to all the Walker Papers series on audio so far…Excellent series. Plus Heart of Stone is on my TBB list.
Holy Smokes is in my TBR pile.
I’ve read all of KMM books, your in for a treat! Enjoy!
I also have your latest in my TBR pile…”Taken By The Night”! Its an excellent series! I just love when an author comes up with a twist not tried with vamps.
I’ve not read any of those, but Hope Tarr’s looks really good. My TBR pile seems to multiply daily! LOL Most of what I have are backlist titles of authors such as Adele Ashworth, Candice Hern, Madeline Hunter, Samantha James and Stephanie Laurens. I almost always read new releases right away.
Congrats again on the release of TBTN, Kate!
Hugs!
Oh, and your new author photo looks fabulous!
Hi Kate!
Congratulations on the release of Taken By The Night! I LOVE your Brotherhood of Blood books and am really looking forward to reading Saint’s story.
My TBR is more a mountain than a pile, too! I just finished Moning’s Dark Fever last weekend. It is more an urban fantasy read than a true “romance” (no HEA). But I know you like urban fantasy, so I’m sure you will like it just as much as I did. Speaking of urban fantasy… will you share any tidbits about your upcoming urban fantasy series?
My TBR is your latest book! LOL
And Kresley Cole’s latest
I just have this thing with vampires and werewolves I guess!
Thanks for the congrats, all! Some of you have mentioned some new books I just might have to add to my TBR! I think I will dive into the Moning asap, and yes I do love urban fantasy.
Speaking of which (lol, Christine!) Sybil will have a little bit about that in the Q&A to be posted later. I’ll be more than happy to answer specific questions about any of my books!
I can’t wait to read Holy Smokes because I love Jim too! He’s awesome. Also Heart of Stone because I’ve been looking for a book about gargoyles for ages and I’ve never read anything by Murphy before so I’m definitely excited about that book. Another book I’m literally shaking with excitement about is The Devil Inside by Jenna Black – I want that book SO BAD! She put up a trailer on her blog and it’s so great!
Oh, I haven’t seen the trailer for Devil Inside. I’ll have to look! So far, Heart of Stone is great. I started it just a couple of hours ago!
Kathryn, I consider Karen Marie Moning’s Darkfever a master’s class in the use of first person POV. And, since the next one, Bloodfever, is already out, lucky you won’t have a year of unfulfilled booklust waiting for it!
And, yeah, gotta love Jim in Katie MacAlister’s Aisling Grey series!
I love to see what authors are reading– thanks for sharing!
