This is the first of a Ravens Trilogy that will release back to back. Missing in September, Suspect in October and Payback in November. Here is the summary for Missing…
For twenty-five years, multimillionaire businessman Ron Raven played the loving husband and father— to two very different households. But when Ron disappears, his deception is revealed. Now both families are left with questions, while the man who holds the answers is…MISSING.
Megan Raven is desperate to save her mother’s Wyoming ranch, used as collateral on a three-million-dollar loan—money that disappeared with Ron. Worse, the loan is being called in by Georgia bank manager Adam Fairfax—brother to Ron’s other wife.
Brought together by their families’ turmoil, Megan and Adam head south of the border in search of the missing millions. But what they find is a whole new web of lies, secrecy and greed.
I can’t remember if I have read Jasmine Cresswell before or not or why I asked for this book (because I did) but as soon as I found out Ron was a bigamist I didn’t think I was going to like this novel. I admit it, I am a bit old fashioned. But I was in for the read and settled back to see what Jasmine had in store for us.
Lucky for me I did because I really found I enjoyed this book. Once we got into the story it just took off! I couldn’t help but like it but of the ‘wives’ are such different people who deserved much more than the hand life and Ron had dealt them.
When Ellie and Avery meet their personalities leap off the page, in a good way. And the book seems as much about them finding their ‘real’ selves as it is about the suspense plot surrounding their no good ‘husband’ Ron and the growing relationship between Megan and Adam. The growing and very complicated relationship between Ellie’s daughter Megan and Avery’s brother Adam.
Unfortunately greed reared it’s ugly head and hurts a lot of people. I look forward to seeing what happens next in the trilogy and with these women. The romance is complete but happens very fast and over a few days. I loved the conversation with the kids and Ellie at the end. But the plot is by no means wrapped up at the end of the book and we are left with more questions than answers.
Start the book expecting to be hanging off of a cliff at the end. I think I would have liked the book more if I had known that going into it. Good thing the books are coming out back to back. Even better than I already have the other two.
Grade: B-
I’ve never read Jasmine before. I do believe I have a earlier book of hers when she wrote a vampire romance. I think its what I have of hers.
Good review! I had the same feelings about the bigamy storyline.
If you liked this book, you’ll like The Daughter by Cresswell. It’s her best book, imo. It’s also up there in my top 10 favorites.
