A Reason To Believe by Maureen McKade
How do you pick up the pieces of a shattered life?
To escape her father, Dulcie McDaniel got pregnant, but lost her husband to a fatal accident. Penniless, lonely, and filled with regrets, she returns to Texas with her little girl–only to have her world shattered once again. As she struggles to provide a home for her daughter, a handsome stranger arrives…
Dulcie is suspicious of Rye Forrester, a drifter who offers to work for room and board, but soon her feelings toward the sexy stranger turn into a consuming passion. However, Rye bears the brand of an army deserter and harbors a secret that can destroy their burgeoning love. How can he ask Dulcie’s forgiveness for his part in her husband’s death? Love is one thing–acceptance and forgiveness another.
When their tragic pasts catch up with them, these two wounded souls must fight for the love that will keep them together for a lifetime…
This is the second book in the Forrester brothers trilogy, and follows A Reason to Live. And if the cover doesn’t tip you off…
Yes this is a western!
WoOT! And it hits the stores tomorrow. So you can run out and pick up a copy! Maureen McKade will be joining us again tomorrow, we were lucky enough to have her last August for the kick off of the trilogy. And oddly enough she agreed to come back ;).
She is great and was one of the many authors I got a chance to meet at RWA. And lucky for me I even liked the book. As a rule I do not schedule a guest author day until after I have read the novel and know I can recommend it. In this case I was so blown away by A Reason to Live and soooooo over the moon at a new historical western trilogy I asked her to rejoin us before the book was even done.
Lucky for me she is as talented as she is *g*. Join us tomorrow, I promise not to let Gwen post too many nekkid cowboys.
Squeeeeeee! I have it! I have it! Borders actually had it out a day early (laydown date is technically tomorrow) so I was able to get it on my lunch break. Squeeeeeee!
What! Wendy you wench! I can’t wait for this book. I’m going to drop everything and read it just as soon as I get my hands on it.
Aha!! Another book I recently ordered which I’m hoping should be here verrryyy soon. I was blown away by her first book in the series and I’ve been wanting to read this one ever since!
I can’t believe I missed the first one! My first read with you Maureen was TO FIND YOU AGAIN and its on the keepers shelf here! Now i’m checking out your backlist and wow, I’ve missed many of yours that I just read the blurbs on and got to add them to my wishlist. I’m assuming some are no longer in print 🙁 But that happens when I discover an author late.
I love this blog becuase too, they love to chat romance books, especially westerns! Was there something special that pulled you too to wanting to write this time period? Have you written other time periods or want to with historicals? I do see the contemps as well!
