I have blogged on and off about Kristina Cook and the oddness that has been her covers. She is a Zebra historical author and her debut novel, Unlaced, hit the shelves in 2004. It was apart of Zebra’s ever so nifty ‘special debut line’.
You know the one… at the great price that makes you think new author sqquuuee… at a price you take them all home! Or is that just me?
I have to admit I didn’t take Unlaced home because I honestly thought it was a contemporary and at that time I was an all historical all the time girl. So color me shocked when I later read a review of her book and it was historical!
Unfortunately I never had a chance to go back and pick it up or the two books that followed. More to do with time than anything else because I heard great things! And still couldn’t understand the covers!
So when I saw the new cover for To Love a Scoundrel I thought… well…
OK we are all friends here right? And I don’t lie to you guys and hey if you want you could search the blog so really I saw the cover and thought WTF. And I may have thought yikes she seems so nice who did she piss off at Zebra. I know, I know… It isn’t the cover I hate because as the wise jane once said man titty = romance. (I think she said that or it could be something like that just go with it). But this is the fourth book in a series. 4!!! and after three funky covers that seem more contemporary than historical I thought man, sucks to be her.
Me being me, I emailed her.
For the record I don’t think she pissed anyone off at Zebra, she is as sweet as she seems and really is something of a nutty chick. No really, check it out yourself, or just stick around and see for yourself as Kristina blogs with us May 29 & 30th.
