The Duke’s Proposal by Leslie LaFoy (was His Reluctant Bride)
Lady Fiona Turnbridge is a fair, green-eyed beauty with a soft spot for injured animals–which is how she arrived on the doorstep of the tall, dark, and handsome Lord Ian Cabott, Duke of Dunsford, at midnight with an injured cat in one hand…and a pistol in her other.
Ian, a former military surgeon with a cool demeanor yet uncommon good sense, is willing to help a damsel in distress–no matter how unladylike her behavior. Still, he has needs, too…and, in exchange for his efforts, he could use Fiona’s assistance with the young ward in his care. Ever since the sickly Charlotte moved into his home, Ian’s efforts to rehabilitate her have been met with sinister curiosity among his peers. But if Fiona were to move into the Dunsford estate, surely scandal could be averted. Now all he has to do is convince both women that his humanitarian heart is true–and perhaps find love along the way…..
I remembered when I saw this that I still needThe Rogue’s Bride! I think I shall take the nifty B&N coupon and my gift card and buying it. So maybe I can have it read by may. It could happen… but it didn’t. Of course I bought the book anyway.
The only LaFoy book I’ve read is Grin and Bear it, something she wrote for the “NEXT” line. Didn’t care for it much, and I haven’t been interested in her since. Should I revise that?
I liked the first in this series… if that is anything to go by ;). But it is historical…
Oh, well, I’m out then. Maybe I’ll add it to my “Someday I might want to get back to historicals” list. Then again, maybe not.
I’m about 7/8ths of the way through, should have it finished in half an hour or so.
I’m liking the story, and the characters are making me laugh out loud, but be prepared for some glaring, jumping out problems.
