REVIEW REVISIT: The Immortal Hunter by Lynsay Sands

Book CoverLawson’s review of The Immortal Hunter (Argeneau Vampires, Book 11/Rogue Hunters, Book 2) by Lynsay Sands
Paranormal romance released by Avon 31 Mar 09

I am a fan of Sands’ Argeneau or vampire (Immortals) series and will probably be for some time. This isn’t to say that some of the books are better than others, but there are many other stories to tell in this world. This is the second in a loose series following Council Enforcers, or rouge vampire hunters. Enforcers keep the peace in the community when an immortal goes rogue or starts hurting humans for a variety of dastardly purposes. The first book followed one of these hunters and Immortal Hunter follows another, Decker (Argeneau) Pimms. read more…

REVIEW: Best Man…with Benefits by Nancy Warren

Wendy the Super LibrarianBuy The Book‘s review of Best Man…with Benefits by Nancy Warren
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Blaze 01 Jul 15

I just got done reading a suspense novel that was really good, but really dark.  And as much as I want to go on a mystery reading jag right now, after finishing “really dark,” I knew I needed a palate cleanser.  Something light, fluffy, and maybe a little sexy. For that I opened up the Harlequin Blaze folder on my Kindle and dug up this book by Nancy Warren.  No, it didn’t change my life, but it turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. My palate is thoroughly cleansed.

REVIEW: The Cowboy’s Bride for Hire by Debra Clopton

Dinca’s Review of The Cowboy’s Bride for Hire (Cowboys of Ransom Creek, Book 2) by Debra Clopton
Contemporary Western Romance published by DCP Publishing 28 Nov 18

The Cowboy’s Bride for Hire is the second book in the Ransom Creek Series. It’s a refreshing, light, clean and lovely story, and I will continue reading the series. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. Single daddys and cute little girls are always a hit with me. I think the title is a little weird, but it was attention-getting so I guess it served its purpose.

REVIEW: The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare

Book CoverStevie‘s review of The Wallflower Wager (Girl Meets Duke, Book 3) by Tessa Dare
Historical Romance published by Avon 13 Aug 19

Out of the trio of eccentric unmarried ladies living in Bloom Square at the time of the first book in this series, Penny is possibly the most eccentric. Sadly, she’s possibly also the least adventurous in the manifestations of her eccentricity, at least from my point of view, in that she neither invents nor repairs any sort of mechanical device, unlike her two friends. Instead, Penny rescues unwanted animals and subjects her friends to unpalatable vegetable-based snacks of her own invention. I’m enjoying the series, though, and I had a lot of curiosity regarding how – or whether – all of Penny’s waifs and strays were going to be re-homed at the demand of her new neighbour – and with his reluctant help.

REVIEW: The Duchess in His Bed by Lorraine Heath

Book CoverSandy M’s review of The Duchess in His Bed (Sins for All Seasons, Book 4) by Lorraine Heath
Historical Romance published by Avon 20 Aug 19

I have to be honest, the first chapter in this book had me thinking for the very first time that Lorraine Heath might let me down with this story. I’m not a fan of how this book begins, at least until the heroine’s reasons for her actions are made clear. So now that I look back, the start of Aiden’s and Selena’s story makes perfect sense and it doesn’t bother me nearly as much. So take a bit of advice from me if you’re just starting this book – hang on and Ms. Heath will definitely not let you down.

REVIEW: Dark Illusion by Christine Feehan

Book CoverVeena’s review of Dark illusion (Carpathians, Book 33) by Christine Feehan
Fantasy Romance  published by Berkley 03 Sept 19

It’s amazing that Ms. Feehan is thirty-three books into this series and, by all indications, is definitely planning many more stories to come. While there have been some books along the way that I could have passed on, it’s books like this one that keep me vested in the series.

Ms.. Feehan matches a woman who is a mage and a dragon seeker Carpathian, a descendant of the evil mage Xavier, with an ancient warrior in search of a life mate. While this book has its share of heat and action that is typical of this series, it also offers a history lesson, giving readers answers to questions they might not even realize they have, while introducing a host of new characters who all have stories waiting to be told. read more…

REVIEW: Her Majesty, My Love by Maya Banks

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Her Majesty, My Love by Maya Banks
Historical Romance published by Maya Banks 15 Jul 19

I was happy to see this new collection Maya Banks is self-publishing – older works that have never been released before. The first book, Duchess of My Heart, reminded me of the Maya of years gone by as compared with her latest releases that have not worked for me at all. This story is along the same lines – while the writing is much better than lately, the storyline itself is lacking, however. At least for me,

REVIEW REVISIT: With Seduction in Mind by Laura Lee Guhrke

Book CoverLawson’s review of With Seduction in Mind (Girl-Bachelors, Book 4) by Laura Lee Guhrke
Historical Romance published by Avon 25 Aug 09
Original Review posted 8 Dec 09

This book has been sitting on my coffee table for probably far too long to remind me that I should write up a review. The problem is that I really was not wanting to write this review. While it’s a story that continues the adventures of another of the Girl-Bachelors of Little Russel Street, the story fell into a different tone than a romance.

REVIEW: A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole

Book CoverStevie‘s review of A Prince on Paper (Reluctant Royals, Book 3) by Alyssa Cole
Contemporary Bisexual Romance published by Avon 30 Apr 19

I’ve been enjoying this series, my gripes with the plot of the second full-length novel notwithstanding. However, I’ve so far been disappointed that the stories tackling diversity beyond race and culture have so far been confined to novella length. This novel goes some way to tackling that concern, with its bisexual hero and the introduction of a non-binary secondary character who is pivotal to the resolution of several plot threads.
