REVIEW: Arctic Wild by Annabeth Albert

Book CoverStevie‘s review of Arctic Wild (Frozen Hearts, Book 2) by Annabeth Albert
Contemporary Bisexual Romance published by Carina Press 03 Jun 19

It’s refreshing to see a bisexual romance in which the gender of neither character’s previous partners constitutes The Big Issue between them. Following some of the themes of the first book in this series, we once again get to see one of the pilot-guides from Barrett Tours showing off the wonders of Alaska to tourists and finding romance with one of them in the process. This time our flyer hero is Toby, whom we’ve met briefly before, while our tourist hero is Reuben, a lawyer and nothing at all like any of the previous bunch of tourists we met. Not that Reuben is particularly keen on the idea of the trip at first – he’s broken up with the partner who was supposed to be accompanying him, and now the other couple who’d booked on the trip are backing out as well. Persuaded that he really needs to take the trip, even if he’s the only one who does, for a whole host of reasons, Reuben agrees to leave his workaholic ways behind – mostly – and try to just relax and enjoy the view. Which includes, it turns out, his young pilot.

REVIEW: Claiming Sarah by Susan Stoker

Book CoverVeena’s review of Claiming Sarah (Ace Security, Book 5) by Susan Stoker
Romantic Suspense published by Montlake Romance 10 Sep 19

I recently discovered Ms. Stoker and have been reading a lot of her books. When I picked this book up, I didn’t realize that it belongs to yet another series that I haven’t read any books in.  These stories are a quick read with a good does of action, adventure, and a lot of romance. read more…

REVIEW: South Pointe by Dianna Wilkes

Book CoverSandy M’s review of South Pointe (Providence Island, Book 3) by Dianna Wilkes
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 6 Feb 19

From the first book in this series, I’ve been a fan of Dianna Wilkes. Now with this third book in the series, I feel like all of these characters are family. Sheriff Sam and local restaurant owner Paige are finally acting on their attraction, all amid heartbreaking-turned-happy situations that keep them all reeling

REVIEW REVISIT: Sold to a Laird by Karen Ranney

Book CoverLawson’s review of Sold to a Laird (Tulloch Sgathan, Book 1) by Karen Ranney
Historical Romance published by Avon 24 Nov 09

I haven’t read any of Karen Ranney’s books, but I had this one in my TBR box and thought I’d give it a try. It was definitely different than I’d expected and this is something that happens from time to time. One thing the reader should know going into this story is the title is horrible. It does nothing to describe any part of the story, and that does take away a little bit of what the story could have been about.

REVIEW: American Fairytale by Adriana Herrera

Book CoverStevie‘s review of American Fairytale (Dreamers, Book 2) by Adriana Herrera
Contemporary Gay Romance published by Carina Press 20 May 19

I adored the first book in this series about three friends from different immigrant backgrounds who grew up together in New York and are now finding their individual ways to career success and relationships that will last. This time, we return to New York City to catch up with the second of the trio, Camilo Santiago Briggs, a Cuban-American social worker with a Jamaican father and a determination to fight for those who’ve had fewer chances in life than he has. When Milo and his best friend are gifted tickets to a swanky charity event, he doesn’t expect to hook up with one of the top donors, and is even more surprised when the man in question shows up at his work as the major benefactor behind his new project.

REVIEW: The Deception by Kat Martin

Book CoverVeena’s review of The Deception (Maximum Security, Book 2) by Kat Martin
Romantic Suspense published by HQN Books 10 Sep 19

The last thing Jason Maddox expected to find is the beautiful woman he knows only as “Just Kate,” who he can’t stop thinking about, walking into his office in need of a private investigator. As the two of them work together to get Kate the answers she’s seeking, they find themselves knee deep into the seedy depths of sex trafficking, drug running, and all things nasty.

This book should come with a warning label ~ Beware, you won’t be able to put it down once you pick it up. Another fantastic high-speed adventure from one of my favorite authors. read more…

REVIEW: The Blacksmith Queen by G.A. Aiken

Book CoverTabs’ review of The Blacksmith Queen (Scarred Earth Series, Book 1) by G.A. Aiken
Fantasy Fiction published by Kensington 27 Aug 19

In G.A. Aiken’s new series, a blacksmith and her family get embroiled in political shenanigans and end up smack dab in the center of a bloody war of succession for a throne they don’t want. Decapitations, mass-destruction, bickering siblings, full-frontal nudity, political scheming, and gloriously campy epic battles all ensue.

REVIEW: Summer Nights by Jill Sanders

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Summer Nights (Wildflowers, Book 1) by Jill Sanders
Contemporary Romance published by Montlake Romance 16 Jul 19

I’m still trying to read new-to-me authors in between all my regular favorites. Thus, when the blurb for this book intrigued me, I figured I’d give Jill Sanders a first-time try. Was it the right place for me start, considering all of the books she’s published over the years? Let’s find out.

REVIEW: Gun Island: A Novel by Amitav Ghosh

Book CoverStevie‘s review of Gun Island: A Novel by Amitav Ghosh
Literary Fiction published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux 10 Sep 19

In my quest to increase the diversity of my reading, I sometimes pick up literary fiction from established, top-prize-nominated authors. This doesn’t always end well. While I like literary tropes, a lot of fiction acclaimed by high-end critics turns out not to be as good in my opinion as really good genre fiction. Sometimes, however, I’m pleasantly surprised. And sometimes I find a literary work that completely blows me away.

REVIEW: Dark Alpha’s Redemption by Donna Grant

Book CoverVeena’s review of Dark Alphas Redemption (The Reapers, Book 8)  by Donna Grant
Romantic Fantasy published by St. Martin’s Paperbacks 06 Aug 19

This series overlaps with the Dragon Kings series also written by Ms. Grant, such that at this point you need to be reading both series concurrently to keep up with the story line and the action.  This book features a couple of new characters and a lot of neat background information but really reads like a filler book in both series.
