REVIEW: Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews
Tabs’ review of Iron and Magic (Iron Covenant, Book 1) by Ilona Andrews
Fantasy Romance published by Ilona Andrews 26 Jun 18
Ilona Andrews’ long running Kate Daniels series takes a turn with a spin-off series that started as an April Fool’s joke that became real. Hugh D’Ambray, Preceptor of the Iron Dogs and Warlord of the Builder of Towers, has lost everything – the favor of the man who’d been a father figure his whole life, the magic that came with that favor, and the command of his troops. When his men rouse their former leader from a drunken stupor because they are being picked off one by one, Hugh now has a mission. He has to find a home for his soldiers and keep them safe. A genuine transplanted castle in North Carolina, the mysterious woman who controls it, and a marriage of convenience may be just what the Iron Dogs need. Could it also be just what Hugh needs?
REVIEW: A Gift in December by Jenny Gladwell

Women’s Holiday Fiction published by Hodder Paperbacks 17 Oct 19
I’m not sure how well-known the story of the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree is outside the UK, but it’s certainly a tale that’s familiar to Brits across what I believe to be quite a wide demographic. Presented every year since the Second World War by the people of Norway, the tree commemorates the parts the two nations played as allies, when the Norwegian Government-in-Exile was based in the UK, while Norway was under Nazi occupation. Both the past and present aspects of the story are key to this novel in which a ragtag of journalistic types travel out from London to witness the cutting down of that year’s tree and sample some traditional Norwegian hospitality.
REVIEW: A Wolf Among Dragons by Kathryn Le Veque

Historical Romance published by Dragonblade Publishing 7 Jun 18
I’ve been searching for some new historical authors to read over the last year or so. I didn’t know where to even begin, so when I saw this cover and then read the blurb, the story sounded like something that might work for me. And it almost did…
REVIEW: Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle
Stevie‘s review of Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle
Contemporary Holiday Romance published by St. Martin’s Griffin 15 Oct 19
I decided to make an early start on reviewing holiday stories this year, and so picked up a pre-release copy of this year’s novel from a new-to-me author, influenced at least as much by its promise of a plot based around house restoration as by the knowledge that a Christmas romance was also going to feature prominently. Liz Westmoreland is a project manager, working with top-end chains of stores to get their new venues launched successfully. However, her happiest childhood memories are of holidays spent with her grandparents at the Angel’s Rest Inn, and she has a long-held dream to one day open her own bed-and-breakfast establishment. Perusing properties for sale pages on the internet one afternoon, Liz comes across an auction listing for her grandparents’ old place and decides to bid on it. With the auction taking place the following day, Liz has no opportunity to view the property, but decides the risk is worth it for this particular purchase.

Historical Romance published by Lyrical Press 10 Sep 19
Phoebe North certainly did not qualify as the bride the illustrious Duke of Leomore might chose, but circumstances make it so. Caught in a compromising situation at a London ball where the Duke has signaled his intent to take a bride this season, they take the ton by storm. Their engagement isn’t the only excitement at the ball – one of the stalwarts of the ton gets her jewels stolen and accuses Phoebe of the theft. The story is off to an exciting start with a lot of different plot lines that takes the author’s deft touch to braid together into a delightful story. read more…

Paranormal Historical Time Travel Romance Audiobook published by Brilliance Audio on 20 Jan 08

Kiss of the Highlander in audio format is the perfect mating of story and storyteller, and I can’t imagine merely reading this story from a printed page ever again. Narrator Phil Gigante brings every minute of this pure escapist fantasy story to life. Audiobooks, in fact most romance books, don’t get any better than this!
REVIEW: Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews
Tabs’ review of Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels, Book 10) by Ilona Andrews
Urban Fantasy published by Ace 28 Aug 18
This is the tenth and final Kate Daniels book and while I am extremely happy that the series is ending at its logical stopping place, I am also going to miss Kate and Curran and the gang so damn much. Though a finale, this book also very much feels like business as usual. Kate has assassins to put down, a mystery to solve, a new foe to vanquish, an old foe to vanquish, and a too-smart-for-his-own-good toddler to wrangle.

Historical Erotic Romance published by Ellora’s Cave 4 Apr 07
There’s a particular reason I usually don’t reread books, especially those that I read years before – there’s always something I don’t quite recall correctly and also I know as I age and change, so does my reading. So does Anchor and Storm live up to my original review from twelve years ago?

REVIEW: Cause of Death by Sheri Lewis Wohl

Contemporary Lesbian Romance published by Bold Strokes Books 13 Aug 19
l don’t generally relish mysteries in which part of the action is seen from the point of view of an unknown villain, but I’m prepared to make an exception if the rest of the plot and characters are to my taste. In this case I was keen to read about the pairing of a canine search and rescue handler and a medical student working in the offices of the local medical examiner to overlook the creepy prologue that introduces an antagonist who refers to himself as the Seeker. And I’m very glad I stuck with this story and got to know our two protagonists.
