REVIEW: Changing Course by Brey Willows
Stevie‘s review of Changing Course by Brey Willows
Lesbian Science Fiction Romance published by Bold Strokes Books 12 Nov 19
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read so far by Brey Willows, especially her most recent fantasy novel. As I grew up reading lesbian science fiction, I was very keen to get my hands on this book. And it feels very much like those books I used to read with added elements of the space operas of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Imagine if you will, the pairing of a lesbian Jenna Stanis (from Blakes 7) and the lesbian answer to a young Han Solo. Throw in a thrilling crash landing and a whole host of dangers on the planet itself and you have the makings of something quite, quite special.
REVIEW: Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer
Liviania’s review of Let It Snow by Nancy Thayer
Contemporary Holiday Romance published by Ballantine 15 Oct 2019
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which hopefully means finding a few moments to curl up with a cozy book between making sure all the presents are bought and pies are baked and suitcases are packed. Let It Snow is quite cozy indeed. It has Christmas sweaters, friends working together to help each other, carols, an adorable little girl, and a grinchy old man who needs to learn the true meaning of community. That old man is a big problem, because he’s the landlord of Christina Antonioni’s toy shop and raising her rent too high for her to stay in business. He’s also the father of her new boyfriend. read more…

REVIEW REVISIT: Bound by Temptation by Lavinia Kent
Birdie’s review of Bound by Temptation by Lavinia Kent
Historical Romance released by Avon Feb 10
Original Review posted 5 Aug 10
Have you ever put down a book, unfinished, but still recommended it to a friend? Or read a new-to-you author, didn’t finish the book, and picked up another by that author? I have done neither of these things, but with Bound by Temptation, I probably would.
REVIEW: Someone to Remember by Mary Balogh
Stevie‘s review of Someone to Remember (Westcott Novels, Book 7) by Mary Balogh
Historical Romance published by Berkley 05 Nov 19
I have been utterly enchanted by this series so far, and was particularly excited toward the end of the last book to see that the next was likely to feature a significantly older hero and heroine (older than me, even). Lady Matilda Westcott is the sister of the late Earl of Riverdale, who has been the cause of much of the family’s trials and tribulations throughout the series, due to his bigamous second marriage. Most of our glimpses of Matilda to date have been as companion to their mother, the Dowager Countess, although we saw a different side to her in the last book when she visited an old friend to request his help in securing the well-being of a new addition into the family. Now that old friend is about to make another appearance in her life.
REVIEW: A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh
Sandy M’s review of A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh
Mystery/Thriller published by Berkley 3 Dec 19
I have thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Singh’s paranormal and contemporary series. The only series I haven’t started is her Archangels, and I know I’m missing out there. And now we have A Madness of Sunshine. A mystery. A thriller. No matter the genre, nothing can stop Nalini Singh from writing a first-rate story. She’s one of the very best in the business.
REVIEW: Vampire Master by Joey W Hill
Veena’s review of Vampire Master (Vampire Queen, Book 16) by Joey W Hill
Erotic Paranormal Romance published by Story Witch Press 15 Dec 19
In this fascinating BDSM-on-steroids world created by Ms. Hill, Wolf, a vampire, is a resident Dom at Club Atlantis where Ella is a club submissive. The author has tantalized us with glimpses of their emotional connection in earlier books in the series, escalated to full-blown want with the vignette earlier this summer. I can assure you that nothing you’ve read prepares you for the emotional impact of this story and the coming together of two souls who are meant to be. read more…

Sometimes I pick up a book and I really want to love it. I’m excited by the premise, I love the prose, and the plot is engaging. And then … it happens. It, the moment when suddenly the story you are loving becomes not so sparkly.

REVIEW: Regretting You by Colleen Hoover
Sandy M’s review of Regretting You by Colleen Hoover
Contemporary Romance published by Montlake Romance 10 December 19
This book has it all – young love, friendship, betrayal, second chances and so much more. Two generations are affected from beginning to end, no heart left un-rended, but love does conquer all in the end. But what a way for these characters to suffer before that ending. So since it’s been a very long while since I’ve read Colleen Hoover, I am now going to be pulling up more of her books for the near future.
