REVIEW: Two Rogues Make a Right by Cat Sebastian

Book CoverStevie‘s review of Two Rogues Make a Right (Seducing the Sedgwicks, Book 3) by Cat Sebastian
Gay and Bisexual Historical Romance published by Avon Impulse 23 Jun 20

When I reviewed the previous book in the series, I was keen to learn more about Martin and Will. This time around, I got my wish. Unlike the pairings in the other books, Martin and Will have known each other for most of their lives. Although they have been apart for much of their adulthood, they have kept in touch by letters until quite recently. Now, however, both have been broken by their experiences, and Martin in particular is also in very poor health. So much so, in fact, that Will has kidnapped him and brought him out of London to a tiny cottage on one of Martin’s country estates.

Clearly from the title, we know that our protagonists don’t start out as lovers or even friends. Cassandra is brash, outspoken, and doesn’t really care for society, but she does love her sweet, beautiful sister. Her father finds the perfect punishment for her by curtailing her sister’s season until Cassandra tows the line.  This gives readers a taste for the deliciousness that is set to unfold for their reading pleasures during this story. read more…

Historical Romance published by St. Martin’s Paperbacks 28 Apr 20

English society in the regency period is full of double standards and very restrictive towards women in general and noble women in particular.  Julia Fairbright would love to buck the system, but she’s held back by her father-in-law, a duke holding her son hostage to her good behavior.  All bets are off, though, when she’s discovered in Hyde Park in a tree by the most notorious rake of all.

REVIEW: Have You Seen Me? by Kate White

Book CoverStevie‘s review of Have You Seen Me? by Kate White
Contemporary Thriller published by Harper Paperbacks 28 Apr 20

Memory loss can be absolutely terrifying to experience, for all that it’s a commonplace – many would say overused – romance trope. No wonder, then, that it’s also a staple of the horror and thriller genres as the afflicted protagonist attempts to piece together the missing hours or days and find an explanation for their erasure, even as external forces conspire to prevent that happening. In this story, our heroine initially finds herself missing several years of her life, acting out her morning routine as if she were still working for a former employer. However, once she accepts that she’s in the wrong office building, and receives the all-clear as regards her physical health, she is able to remember all but the events of the past few days. Even that, though, is disturbing, since there is evidence to suggest someone has sustained an injury, and with no recollection of who, what, or how this possible accident happened, Ally has no way of knowing whether she was witness, victim, or perpetrator.

Sandy M’s review of Happily Letter After by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward
Contemporary Romance published by Montlake 20 Oct 20

I’m learning very quickly I should never pass up a book by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward working together, though they also write wonderful romance individually. They give me something unusual every time, and this book is no different. Letters to Santa, second chances, and fate giving a single dad, his little girl, and a stranger the love of a lifetime.
