REVIEW: P.S. I Dare You by Winter Renshaw

Book CoverKristie J’s review of P.S. I Dare You (P.S., Book 3) by Winter Renshaw
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 26 Oct 18

I’ve been reading quite a few of this author’s books lately and loving them.  This one is the third in the P.S. serie,s but, to be honest, is more of a stand-alone because the characters in the previous book are barely even mentioned.  This is also shorter than the other books at only 189 pages, but the author tells quite a good story in those pages.

REVIEW: Highlander Ever After by Paula Quinn

Book CoverVeena’s review of Highlander Ever After (Highland Heirs, Book 4) by Paula Quinn
Historical Romance published by Forever 18 Dec 18

Even though my love affair with Scottish historical romance has waned in recent times, Ms. Quinn is one of the authors who can rekindle that old enchantment.  Adam MacGregor believes he’s not worthy to be his father’s heir, even if he is the oldest son. Yet when called upon, he marries a stranger to keep his clan safe. This story will really show the world Adam’s true mettle as the MacGregor heir.

REVIEW: Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of the One, Book 2) by Nora Roberts
Paranormal Romance published by St. Martin’s Press 4 Dec 18

As many of you know, I’m a HUGE Nora Roberts fan. Doesn’t matter to me which sub-genre she has hitting the shelves, I’ll read it. Even without reading the blurb first. And that’s where I have to admit this series took me by surprise, when it turned toward magic after so many chapters read in the first book. Now, it could be I missed a clue somewhere along the way before the spells and all that hit. Even so, the action, the fear, the uncertainty, the hope, and the love and romance always go hand in hand with magic in any Nora Roberts story. Thus, I’m still happy as can be with this second book in her Chronicles of the One series.

REVIEW: Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

Book CoverSammy’s review of Pestilence (The Four Horsemen, Book 1) by Laura Thalassa
New Adult Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy Romance published by Laura Thalassa 20 Mar 18

I am going to make a confession, I bought this book solely on the cover. I know, so damn shallow. But! Without that shallowness, I would have never given this book a chance. That’s my truth. I am not a big fan of New Adult any sub-genre. I just got off a book high with an ARC that will post in January and went right this one when I finished. My peaks and valleys between reading is crazy, so when the book bug bites, I go with it. I started reading this story about 2:00 a.m. and, before I knew it, the sun was shining and it was 10:00 in the morning! Now, I will tell you I shocked myself, but what was even more exciting was this book rocked my entire year of reading. I’m not saying this is a perfect book, it’s not. I have my thoughts on some things, but what really shocked me most was even with things that bugged me, I am giving this book a high grade and I will whisper it into the ears of all my reader friends. It’s that good. And it’s only $2.99 – that’s a steal! Thanks to Goodreads, I noticed it was up for best romance, and that’s what pushed it to the top of my TBR pile. No regrets, Dear Readers.

REVIEW: Love Online by Penelope Ward

Book CoverKristie J’s review of Love Online by Penelope Ward
Contemporary Romance published by Penelope Ward Books 25 Aug 18

Penelope Ward is an auto-buy author.  While I’ve found some of her books don’t really work for me, when they do, they work very well.  So when I saw this book just came out, I picked it up  – what, with her being an auto-buy and such.  This book definitely keeps her at that high status.

REVIEW: Cupcakes for Christmas by Kate Hewitt

Book Cover Stevie‘s review of Cupcakes for Christmas (Return to Willoughby Close, Book 1) by Kate Hewitt
Contemporary Holiday Romance published by Tule Publishing 25 Oct 18

I’ve read and enjoyed Kate Hewitt’s Lake District romances, as well as several of the women’s fiction novels she’s written under a different pen name. Up until now, however, I hadn’t delved into her Cotswold romance series. Christmas this year, however, sees the start of a new series, revisiting the location of the previous series and, not unexpectedly, quite a few of the characters from that series also. There’s always room for some new folk too, of course, which always promises to be helpful for new readers unfamiliar with previous goings-on in the setting.

REVIEW: Unspeakable by Elisabeth Naughton

Book CoverVeena’s review of Unspeakable (Deadly Secrets, Book 4) by Elisabeth Naughton
Romantic Thriller published by Montlake Romance 20 Nov 18

I always enjoy Ms. Naughton’s books and I’m always surprised to find that I’ve missed a whole series between one book and the next.  For instance, I picked this one up, only to find that there are three I missed before this book. Of course, while I enjoyed this story, there are a few times when I wished I had read the earlier installments.

REVIEW: Don’t Love a Liar by Cynthia Eden

Book CoverSandy M’s review of Don’t Love a Liar (Dark Sins, Book 2) by Cynthia Eden
Contemporary Romantic Suspense published by Amazon Digital Services 13 Nov 18

I have thoroughly enjoyed Cynthia Eden’s Lazarus Rising series this year. I didn’t realize at the time that Don’t Trust a Killer was the beginning of a new series for her. But because I also liked DTaK, I was happy to see a second book with Remy, a secondary character in that story and thus the start of a new series. The blurb gave me no reason to doubt I wouldn’t enjoy DLaL as much.

REVIEW: Single Dad’s Loss by Sam Destiny

Book CoverKristie J’s review of Single Dad’s Loss (Finding Single Dads, Book 3) by Sam Destiny
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 28 Sep 18

I’ve been such a reading machine lately that I’ve become very far behind on reviews.  When it came time for this book, for the life of me I didn’t remember it – until I read the outline, that is, and then I remembered it very fondly, and that’s always a good sign.
