REVIEW: Knight’s Salvation by Sherilee Gray
Sammy’s review of Knight’s Salvation (Knight’s of Hell Series, Book 2) by Sherilee Gray
Paranormal Romance published by Sherilee Gray 26 Nov 18
After finishing Book 1, Knight’s Redemption, I wasted no time and downloaded Book 2. To my surprise, it’s about Zenon, the Knight who doesn’t really speak too much and doesn’t like to be touched. I was all on board for this book. I do have to say while Book 1 had a moron hero whom I came to adore, Book 2 decided to really test my book norms. I need to be upfront here, dear readers. The hero in this book has no choice in the circumstances he finds himself. He’s a victim. While things have to be a certain way for a majority of the book, I didn’t hold him responsible and neither does the heroine in the story. I know I am being vague, but I am sure you can fill in the blank spaces. I found this book to be very well written and, like the first book, a very satisfying ending. I hope you take a chance on a very intriguing series that takes chances not too many authors would try.
REVIEW: Ian by Chris Keniston
Dinca’s review of Ian (Farraday Country, Book 9) by Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance published by Indie House Publishing 31 October 17
This is another delightful story of the Texas Farraday clan. I enjoyed spending time with Kelly and Ian and the matchmaking puppies. I usually get tired of a series long before now, so I can’t believe I am looking forward to the last two books in the series.
REVIEW: Better Not Pout by Annabeth Albert
Stevie‘s review of Better Not Pout by Annabeth Albert
Contemporary Gay Military Holiday Romance published by Carina Press 12 Nov 18
I’m a great fan of Annabeth Albert’s romance series, particularly her latest set of military romances. For Christmas this year, however, we’re treated to a stand-alone military romance, set not on the southwest coast, but in the northeast of the US – New York State, to be precise. One of our heroes is a native, but the other – the military guy – is more used to warmer climes and is planning a southerly move, once his years of service are up. Not that he actually wants to retire just yet.
REVIEW: Knight’s Redemption by Sherilee Gray
Sammy’s review of Knight’s Redemption (Knight’s Of Hell Series, Book 1) by Sherilee Gray
Paranormal Romance published by Sherilee Gray 29 Oct 18
Sherilee Gray is a new-to-me author. Boy, am I glad I downloaded this book a few months ago. I think if you’re a fan of J.R. Ward or Sherrilyn Kenyon, you would like these books. The Knights are a tight-knit group of warriors (half angel/half demon) protecting humans against the influx of demons. I think with more of a world buildup, I would also compare the books to Nalini Singh. Meaning that the brotherhood of warriors fighting for the greater good, fated mate trope, hot sex, messed-up heroes, strong heroines, all with a heavy dose of how the hell are they going to overcome these obstacles make for a great book with potential for being an even greater series. I absolutely love paranormal romances and new-to-me authors rocking the sub-genre.
REVIEW: Once a Scoundrel by Mary Jo Putney
Stevie‘s review of Once a Scoundrel (Rogues Redeemed, Book 3) by Mary Jo Putney
Historical Romance published by Zebra 25 Sep 18
Lady adventurers number amongst my favourite historical heroines, and this book gives us not one but two bold Englishwomen abroad. Lady Aurora Lawrence and her companion and illegitimate cousin Constance Hollings are returning from a trip to India when they are captured by pirates and held for ransom. Unfortunately, Rory is all to aware that the price demanded for her and Constance – and the sailors captured along with them, whom she won’t leave behind – is far too steep for her land-rich, cash-poor father: assuming he even wants her back after all the scandal she caused by refusing to marry. Fortunately, there’s one man who might be able to rescue all of them from their current predicament.
REVIEW: The Bride Chooses a Highlander by Adrienne Basso
Sandy M’s review of The Bride Chooses a Highlander (McKennas, Book 3) by Adrienne Basso
Historical Romance published by Penguin Random House 18 Dec 18
Lately I’ve been trying to get back into reading historical romance. I’m going through a romantic suspense phase right now, but I do miss a good historical. This is the third book in Ms. Basso’s McKenna family series, and it does stand alone as far as I can tell, but I’m thinking it wasn’t the right book for me to get back my love of historical romance.
REVIEW: Trial of A Warrior by Mary Morgan
Veena’s review of Trial Of A Warrior (Legends of the Fenian Warriors, Book 3) by Mary Morgan
Fantasy Romance published by Wild Rose Press 12 Dec 18
Fae, dragons, and time travel are all a very enticing entry into a new world by a new-to-me author. Of course, the story is three deep and moves a bit slow with a lot of characters that I might have enjoyed a lot more, if I had read the earlier books. But, all in all, I enjoyed this story as a stand alone on its own merits. read more…
REVIEW: Wolf’s Mate by Katie Reus
Sandy M’s review of Wolf’s Mate (Crescent Moon, Book 7) by Katie Reus
Paranormal Romance published by KR Press 3 Jul 18
I started reading Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbor series last year and have loved every one of them. So when I came across this book, I thought why not, I’ve been a bit lax on paranormals lately so it might work for me. I was right, despite the fact it’s Book 7 in the Crescent Moon series, a fact I didn’t know until after I finished reading. I enjoyed Hudson and Erica’s story a lot, along with getting to know the previous characters from other books. I will definitely be going back to the beginning of this series as soon as I can.
REVIEW: Romantic Behavior by L.A. Witt & Cari Z
Sandy M’s review of Romantic Behavior (Bad Behavior, Book 4) by L.A. Witt & Cari Z
Contemporary Gay Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 13 Jan 18
I’m actually pretty bummed – this is the last book in the Bad Behavior series. Going along for the ride with Andreas and Darren has been one wild time. They’ve been through hell together since they met – and initially didn’t like each other all that much – and now they get their happily ever after, despite a rabid mother and her wedding planning that neither men finds they want.
REVIEW: Don’t Look Back by Dawn Ryder
Veena’s review of Don’t Look Back (Unbroken Heroes, Book 4) by Dawn Ryder
Romantic Suspense published by St. Martin’s Paperbacks 28 Aug 18
This is the concluding book in a series where the murky world of politics comes head to head with the shadows of sanctioned deep-cover operations that are secret from all but a select few commanding them. In a progression of events over the series, the rot behind the politics is exposed but not eliminated. Can Thais Sinclair bring things to a satisfactory end?
