REVIEW: Renegade: The Coalition Rebellion Ziem 3 by Justine Davis
Veena’s review of Renegade: The Coalition Rebellion Ziem 3 (Coalition Rebellion, Book 6) by Justine Davis
Futuristic Space Fantasy Romance published by Bell Bridge Books 24 May 19
I have absolutely loved this series and couldn’t wait to see how this final chapter in the trilogy would unfold. This story is probably the best in the series with its strong emotional impact and, of course, its message of how strength and cunning can outwit a giant enemy. read more…
REVIEW: Peterloo: Witnesses to a Massacre by Robert Poole, Eva Schlunke, Polyp
Stevie‘s review of Peterloo: Witnesses to a Massacre by Robert Poole (Author), Eva Schlunke (Editor), Polyp (Illustrator)
Historical Graphic Novel published by New Internationalist 12 Jun 19
The Peterloo Massacre was a pivotal moment in British political history, particularly with regard to the rights of people to assemble peacefully and to have a say in their parliamentary representation, but it is taught rather erratically in schools. This book is part of a widespread effort to address that imbalance. Drawing on extensive research, to be published more expansively in Robert Poole’s upcoming academic work, Peterloo: the English Uprising, this is a richly illustrated work, in which most of the text is taken directly from transcribed eyewitness accounts.
REVIEW: The Cowboy and His Baby by Jessica Clare
Sandy M’s review of The Cowboy and His Baby (Wyoming Cowboys, Book 2) by Jessica Clare
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 7 May 19
This is my first book by Jessica Clare. When I didn’t know what to read after I closed my last book, and because I love cowboys, this story seemed like it would hit the spot. I instantly fell in love with Dustin, definitely a cowboy after my own heart. Thus, I just don’t get Annie and her waffling when it comes to this man.
REVIEW REVISIT: The Dangerous Mr. Ryder by Louise Allen
Devon’s review of The Dangerous Mr. Ryder by Louise Allen
Historical Romance released 1 Jul 08 by Harlequin Historical
Original review posted 30 Jun 08
The Dangerous Mr. Ryder, the first book in Louise Allen’s Those Scandalous Ravenhursts series, features that most popular of Regency heroes, the gentleman adventurer-spy. Jack Ryder, aka Lord Sebastian Ravenhurst, has been charged to bring Eva, the Grand Duchess of Maubourg, to England. The tiny duchy of Maubourg is significant to both the French and the English in terms of location and allegiance. Eva is proud, intelligent, and independent, as well as beautiful. As they make their dangerous journey, the two find themselves falling in love. While several elements of this book seem rather familiar, it was a solidly entertaining read.
REVIEW: Mask of Duplicity by Julia Brannan
LynneC’s review of Mask of Duplicity (Jacobite Chronicles, Book 1) by Julia Brannan
Historical fiction published by Harlequin Desire 3 Jul 12
When this book came up on a list I subscribe to, I was really excited. Oh, a book set in my favourite period about a conflict I know a little bit about. The reviews said the book was historically accurate, so away I went.
I ended up DNF’ing it half way through. If I weren’t reading it for review, I wouldn’t have lasted that long. I skimmed to the end, just to see how it all ended up. It didn’t really end, you have to buy the next one to find out.
REVIEW: The Promise of Us by Jamie Beck
Veena’s review of The Promise of Us (Sanctuary Sound, Book 2) by Jamie Beck
Contemporary Romance published by Montlake 09 Apr 19
A random mall shooting leaves Claire traumatized and her promising tennis career in ruins and bound within the invisible boundary of the small town she lives in. Logan, as a professional photo journalist, lives for the adrenaline burst of the next big story. “They couldn’t be more different…or more completely perfect for each other,” even though I have to say that Logan definitely rubbed me the wrong way when I first met him.
REVIEW: The Right Sort of Man by Allison Montclair
Nikki’s review of The Right Sort of Man by Allison Montclair
Historical Mystery published by Minotaur Books 4 Jun 19
I’ll start this off with an admission: I don’t know enough about British history to know whether the depictions here are accurate. I suspect some accuracy—in attitudes, in culture—has been compromised on behalf of crafting a fun read. As it turns out, the book Ms. Montclair writes is entertaining enough that I don’t mind those suspicions.

REVIEW: Death In Kew Gardens by Jennifer Ashley
Stevie‘s review of Death in Kew Gardens (A Below Stairs Mystery, Book 3) by Jennifer Ashley
Historical Mystery published by Berkley 04 June 19
I’ve been greatly enjoying the Below Stairs series and was eagerly awaiting this, the third novel. Once again, Kat and her fellow servants in the London town-house find themselves deep in murder and mysteries, and once again the cross-dressing Lady Cynthia and man of mystery Daniel McAdam, not to mention Daniel’s son James, are only too keen to help Kat find the solution to each puzzle.
EXCERPT: A Touch of Forever by Jo Goodman
Jo Goodman is one of my top ten favorite authors. So when a new book is about to release, you can bet I’m right there getting my copy as early as possible.
Her characters come alive on the page and they’re the type of folks you’d like to have live next door. Their stories always pull the heartstrings and you rejoice when happily ever after arrives.
I’m happy to share this excerpt from A Touch of Forever, Book 3 in the Frost Falls series, with you. Enjoy!
