She’s a monster who feeds on fear, cursed and stripped of her powers and immortality. He’s a Herald of the gods, ferrying the dead to the afterlife, but can’t remember his own past. If they work together, they may be able to recover what was taken from them by the gods. They just need to kill a vampire, a banshee, and one of the gods to break their curses.
I really enjoyed this one. The premise is great and the found family, one of my favorite tropes, is perfection.
This is a short fantasy standalone that’s really easy to fly through. I’d also recommend Christo’s other standalones, To Kill a Kingdom and Princess of Souls, if you’re looking for quick, magical reads.
They’re all really fun young adult dark fantasies.

Summary:

Atia would never dream of allying with someone like him, but when she breaks a sacred law and the Gods send monsters to hunt her, Silas offers an irresistible deal: he’ll help avenge her family and take on the Gods who now hunt her, if she helps him break his curse and restore his humanity. All they need to do is kill three powerful creatures: a vampire, a banshee, and one of the very Gods who destroyed both their lives. Only together can they finally rewrite their destinies.
