Ms. Martin kicks off a new romantic suspense series in Colorado with an eight-year-old cold case that turns hot when the car belonging to a dead woman is pulled out of a lake. Kade Logan had been at the point of divorcing his cheating wife when she disappeared. With this latest piece of evidence, it is now clear that she was murdered and the trail is cold. Regardless, Kade hires Night Hawk Security Agency to help him track down clues and potentially find his wife’s killer.
Eleanor comes in undercover to work as a cook at the ranch. As she starts asking questions around town, another body shows up. The killer might have overplayed his hand, because now Eleanor has a trail to follow. Like most small towns, this one has secrets as well, and, clearly, Kade’s wife definitely made inroads amongst the men in town. Do any of them have a motive for murder?
Also, it’s apparent that someone definitely has a personal vendetta against Kade. since his ranch, his hands, his cattle. and he himself all seem to be targeted for sabotage and sneak attacks. Eleanor is a great cook. but soon. with the investigation heating up, she’s forced to bring in help. paving the way for a nice secondary romance to keep readers entertained.
Kade is definitely hands on in the investigation along with Eleanor. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts, and soon they are exploring this side of things, even as the investigation heats up. Clearly Eleanor’s questions are raising some red flags and soon she’s in the crosshairs of the killer, who begins stalking her. Can they get in front and take down a killer before he gets them?
This is the type of romantic suspense novel that I totally enjoy. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
