Book CoverKristie J’s review of Repeat by Kylie Scott
Contemporary Romance published by Amazon Digital Services 7 Apr 19

I just finished reading another book where the heroine has amnesia and loved it. Then someone suggested this book.  I’ve read Kylie’s books before and enjoyed them, and this one sounded interesting. So I gave it a try.

It’s good.  I wouldn’t say it’s great or the best book I ever, ever read, but I enjoyed it and was glad I read it.  Clementine, or Clem, was viciously attacked and the result was a complete loss of memory.  Some time has passed since then and she is trying to find out about who she used to be.  In an effort for information, she goes to see an ex-boyfriend.  She doesn’t remember him at all, but hopes he might be able to answer some of her  questions.

It turns out it was NOT an amicable split, and when she shows up at the tattoo shop that Ed Larsen owns and runs, he’s still deeply angry with her.  At first it doesn’t matter if she remembers things or not.  She’s still the woman who left him and broke him without any real explanation and without a chance to fix things.

Eventually he relents somewhat and is willing to answer some of her questions, but it’s like tiptoeing in a mine field – she never knows what will set him off, back into anger and resentment.

Even though Clem doesn’t remember him, she is drawn to him more and more, as his anger and resentment seem to settle down a bit. And he seems to be attracted to her.

Can they possibly get back to what they once had or will it be different, since she is now a different person.  And what about the attacker?  Is she still in danger?  These are the conflicts that are dealt with in the story line.

I like this book, though I didn’t love it.  Chances are I probably won’t read it again because I have so many, many, many books to read. So it isn’t a stand out for me.

Summary:

When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she’s forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did – which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.

Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can’t seem to let her go again.

Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance.
