Sandy M’s review of The Brawl (Calamity, Montana, Book 5) by Willa Nash
Contemporary Romance published by Devney Perry 6 Oct 22
How I love visiting Calamity, Montana. Every book in this series has been a delight, and The Brawl is no exception.
Ronan has just relocated to Calamity from San Francisco and opened a law office. Work is slow at first, of course, and when a young client is hell bent on suing her English teacher, he tries to talk her out of it – the judge will not be happy with him for such a lawsuit – but when Ember says she’ll find another way, he gives in. Especially when he discovers who that English teacher is.
That ends up being the lovely lady he spied on the street one of his first days in town, the one who shot him down when he, very cheesily, asked her out. So what better way to get under her skin? Yeah, she’s that English teacher and about to make her case against him even stronger. Larke is part of the Hale family, pioneers of Calamity, and she’s settled down to raise her young daughter the best she can. Especially without the jerk of a father who doesn’t want a thing to do with Wren.
And that’s what I love most about Ronan, the way he interacts with both Ember and Wren. He realizes very soon something is off with the teenager who is obsessing over her English grade. Then his scenes with Wren are absolutely charming and fun. He’s a nice guy and it shows in everything he does. Even the way he tries to give Larke room when she keeps turning him down to further their relationship, such as it is, into something more. Her first priority is her daughter, and he respects that.
They eventually work together to figure out Ember’s issues, and what they discover will break your heart. And make you proud of the gal and all she’s done and will do in her life. Calamity, Montana is the place to be for friendship, community, and love and romance. Be sure to visit today.
Summary:
On Ronan Thatcher’s first week in Montana, he spots the most beautiful woman in the world. Love at first sight? Nah. He doesn’t believe in love. But he wouldn’t mind a date or two with the local beauty. Ronan is the type of man who gets what he wants, and he wants Larke Hale.
Except Calamity’s sweetheart has sworn off men. The last time Ronan was rejected was, well . . . never. Yet Larke dismisses him without even batting those pretty brown eyes.
Bruised ego in check, he’s about to walk away when a teenager marches into his office and asks to hire Ronan as her lawyer. Something about a bad grade and a ruined grade point average that will inevitably destroy her future. He’s about to lecture the kid for being melodramatic until he learns that the teacher she wants to sue is Larke.
Suddenly this frivolous lawsuit seems like a bright idea. Ronan wants Larke’s attention and this is guaranteed to snag it. So let the brawl begin.
