Sandy M’s review of Blacklisted (Loveless, Texas, Book 3) by Jay Crownover
Contemporary Romance published by Forever 27 Oct 20

I’m really bummed there aren’t any more Lawton siblings so this series by Jay Crownover can continue. We got one extra book with the appearance of a sister the main characters never knew about, which is Presley Baskin, the heroine of this story. That she’s paired up with Shot Caldwell, president of the Sons of Sorrow motorcycle club, her exact opposite in every way, makes this book all the more intriguing.

After discovering her half siblings, Presley has moved to Loveless but still tries to keep her distance from them. They’re having none of that, however. They know family means everything, especially after surviving their cruel and corrupt father. So when Kody calls Presley with an emergency to help a friend of hers, Presley has no idea how much more her life is about to change, despite already having to hide away from a former best friend who wants her dead.

Shot is the one she’s called in to help – he’s down after an ambush in Kody’s bar. Though Presley is a medical examiner, she goes all in to make sure the scary, sexy biker pulls through. Months later they are still thinking about each other, and despite Shot’s determination to pay his debt to her and keep his distance, there’s something about the doctor that won’t let him stay away. Keeping her safe becomes his number one priority.

Presley is closed-off innocence compared to Shot’s dangerous outlaw ways. They bring out the best in each other, and watching them grow closer, as they toss out their own rules for relationships, is intense and the best part of the story. Especially when Shot ignores threats from Presley’s older brothers to leave little sister alone. No one will come between them – even when things go south during their attempt to nab the aforementioned evil best friend. Their chemistry and trust in one another slowly builds, and you just know they belong together. Thus, rooting for them is no hardship whatsoever.

I’m sorry to see the end of this series, but that only means a new series, hopefully, will be forthcoming as soon as possible. I will be following Ms. Crownover very closely to see what that will be and when I can get my hands on that next book.

Grade: A

Summary:

Dr. Presley Baskin has always lived a quiet, calm life. Unfortunately, nothing about her life in Loveless, Texas — especially not the wild, rowdy, and impossibly close-knit Lawton family who’ve claimed her — is quiet or calm. Which is how loner Presley finds herself roped into patching up local bad boy Shot Caldwell against her better judgment. Presley wants nothing to do with the dangerous, brooding leader of the local outlaw motorcycle club. But when someone starts stalking her, Shot is the only person she trusts to help. Plus he owes her one . . .
Palmer ‘Shot’ Caldwell has always known his life isn’t made for relationships. At least until shy, secretive, Presley reluctantly pulled a bullet out of him. He’s oddly protective of the pretty doctor, so when she comes to him for help, hard-hearted Shot suddenly realizes there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to keep her safe.
