Retired Navy SEAL Lawrence is as alpha as alpha can be, but he has always hungered to serve at the command of a mistress, even if he could not translate those desires into actionable intelligence until he was introduced first into the BDSM scene and then to Mistress Ros. Ms. Hill does a fabulous job of balancing the submissive sexual orientation with the alpha security guard as she leads her readers through a network of finely tuned scenes that raise the heat and excitement on all levels.
Rosalinda is strong, principled, successful; a mistress bred in the bone. Lawrence evokes the same tenderness and emotional connection that she has with her executive team at Thomas Rose Associates. Interestingly, she has her own triggers and minefield that she has to negotiate successfully and her emotional journey in its own way is as compelling as watching her dominate Lawrence’s submission.
Cameo appearances of characters from the previous books set in Baton Rouge allow readers a nice opportunity to reconnect and refresh. Serious topics like alcoholism and abuse are treated with the gravity and respect they deserve, even as their impact on Ros and Lawrence’s story is like a trial by fire that might consume their relationship before it begins.
If you like your romance mixed with pleasure and pain, strong alpha characters, and a thought provoking and at times possibly dark subject matter, then this is a series for you.
