Veena’s review of Vendetta Road (Torpedo Ink, Book 3) by Christine Feehan
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 28 Jan 20
The members of Torpedo Ink have survived the most unimaginable cruelties in a Russian “school” in their formative years. Now headquartered in Northern California, they seek justice for crimes committed against the innocent. When Ice Koval sees Soliel across a busy street in Vegas in the midst of a club mission, the world comes to a stop for him. Imagine his surprise when later that night she walks into a bar where he and his friends are whiling away their evening. Before Soliel has the time to think, Ice has her bagged and tagged and mission complete, speeding away with her on the back of his motorcycle on his way home. As it turns out, Soliel thinks she’s the one who forced Ice down the aisle. She’s on the run from an abusive boyfriend. who. as it turns out. is a fortune hunter determined to marry her and then kill her for her money. While the two are indulging their insane chemistry and sorting out who entrapped whom, the club is pursuing a child pornography ring that seems to have started from the seeds of their formative years in Russia.
Before long they discover that Soliel’s ex is linked to their targets, and everything seems to come together as Ice and Soleil seek their vengeance while delivering justice. The story, like most of Ms. Feehan’s books, has a lot of explicit sex scenes between the protagonists in various situations they find themselves. These are interspersed with the missions of justice that Ice undertakes as a part of this group.
I enjoyed getting to know some of the characters better, but, overall, I felt that the story itself was a series of episodes that alternated between sex and missions and ended very abruptly. I missed the romance that I would have liked to have seen.
Summary:
Isaak “Ice” Koval is on a club mission when he sees a woman who stops him dead in his tracks. Soleil is a sweet, sexy, girl-next-door type. She’s an innocent who should be nowhere near the rough-and-ready world of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club. But Ice knows Soleil belongs with him—and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.
After a life of drifting from one thing to the next, Soleil Brodeur is determined to take control of her life. When her breakup with her manipulative fiancé turns ugly, Soleil searches out the stranger who offered her a lifeline and ends up in a Las Vegas biker bar where she meets a gorgeous, dangerous man straight out of her most secret fantasies.
High on adrenaline, she finds herself falling faster than she thought possible. But Soleil knows little about the territory she’s stumbled into, and even less about what it really means to be Ice’s woman.…
Ugh. I totally agree. I felt like 300 pages was dedicated to sex and 100 pages was dedicated to plot. I love this series, and I disliked this book immensely. I’m hoping the next installment isn’t insta love and sex, sex, sex. You graded this book higher than I would have. I was giving it a D.
