Dinca’s review of Declan (Farraday Country, Book 4) by Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance published by Indie House Publishing 30 Nov 16
One of the best lines ever is written in this book. You will have to read the story for yourself to figure out what it is, however.
The Farraday Country series is still going strong. I usually start to lose interest in this long a series by now, but Ms. Keniston’s characters are so developed, you can’t resist any of them.
DJ, the Police Chief of Tucker’s Bluff, has his hands full with small-town problems. Finding a stray dog guarding an abandoned baby on the steps of the police station is just the tip of the iceberg. When he discovers the dog, he calls his brother’s veterinary clinic. It’s Becky who shows up to get the animal. By then a baby is spotted and the dog slips away – finding out who the baby belongs to takes priority. Trying not to fall for the child’s new foster mom is impossible.
When Becky arrives at the police station to take care of the stray dog, she has no idea she will be the foster mother of an abandoned baby – a suspected Farraday baby. Becky has had a schoolgirl crush on DJ’s younger brother most of her life, so there is no question as to who is the right person for taking care of his abandoned baby. I’m not so sold on the saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” But proximity sure makes the heart beat faster.
Reading how the strong these characters interact and try to protect each other makes you smile and laugh and want to party right along with them. I think this is my favorite Farraday story so far.
Grade: B
Summary:
Declan Farraday left the Dallas PD to take the job of Police Chief in his peaceful and uncomplicated West Texas hometown. He just wished the folks in Tuckers Bluff would cooperate. Especially when someone leaves a definite complication on his doorstep and his only option is to reach out to the one girl in town he has no business asking for help.
Becky Wilson has loved Declan Farraday’s brother since the first grade and the whole town knows it. When Declan needs help, she doesn’t hesitate to step up. Working with the normally serious big brother reveals his gentler sweeter side. The more time they spend together, the more she questions has she been dreaming of the wrong Farraday?
