Dinca’s review of Adam (Farraday Country, Book 1) by Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance Indie House Publishing 24 Oct 16
If you like small-town happily ever afters with a sense of community, this book is for you. It’s very well written with charming characters. Not once did I have to go back and reread a part to figure out something because of an editing error. Hats off to Ms. Keniston and her editor.
Meg O’Brien runs away on her wedding day thirty minutes before walking down the aisle. Her fiancé is arrested, her accounts are drained, and all she has is a Vera Wang wedding dress and a red Ferrari that has her stuck on the side of the road. Her circumstances couldn’t get much worse.
Along comes Adam Farraday, the local veterinarian. After a long night on the ranch looking after one of his patients, the last thing he needs is a stranded female with a boatload of problems. After Adam gets her safely into town and has the local mechanic deal with her car, he thinks he’s seen the last of her.
With the help of the local café owner, Meg finds a way to survive until she can figure out how much trouble awaits her at home. The generosity and hospitality of small-town living are so heartwarming, it makes me want to get up and move to a smaller town. I love this little town and all the various townsfolk. I also like the idea of a series where all the sons don’t stay glued to the ranch but branch out with careers of their own.
Ms. Keniston creates a sizzling relationship between Meg and Adam, even in a platonic state. I was always looking forward to the next paragraph. When it came to apprehending the no-good thieving ex-fiancé, it was short and sweet. I do think this story could have been expanded toward the next book in the series, instead of coming to an abrupt end. Nonetheless, I will look forward to Book 2 in the Farraday Country series.
