Sandy M’s review of Main Street (Providence Island, Book 1) by Dianna Wilkes
Contemporary Romance published by RedBird Books 24 Jan 17
I love when I find new authors whose books I enjoy, all out of the blue. I found Dianna Wilkes when judging her book for a contest. The contest is over, so I figured a review is needed to let readers know about this charming series.
Dana is ready to begin a new chapter in her life, after the horror of her husband’s murder. She’s an interior designer and has snagged the perfect project on Providence Island near the coast of Virginia. The meeting between her and Nick is cute and fun, and you love him before he’s even introduced or says a word. Their second meeting is intense and danger-filled, and you can’t help but wonder at all the in-between of their relationship that will be covered once they get started.
Nick is a former cop, and he started a new life too. He now owns a garage in town, and he becomes a local hottie, much to his chagrin. I’d love to see the poster result of the contest he won, making all scads of women show up at his garage for a look and perhaps a date. He, however, has eyes for no one but Dana, and their chemistry is fast and fierce.
When other unexplained events happen to threaten Dana’s life, the story takes more of a dramatic turn, and Nick will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. There are plenty of twists and turns, both emotional and evil for Dana, that caught me by surprise. Through it all, Dana and Nick work together instead of allowing misunderstandings to drive them apart. As they say, it’s a small world, and Dana’s life comes full circle for her to understand what happened to her so many years before.
I enjoyed all the secondary characters. There are a lot of them, but they’re fun and even a little diabolic.
I definitely look forward to reading Rhys’ story in Towne Square, which released just last month. I tried to find out if there are more books planned in the series, but Ms. Wilkes’ site doesn’t list anything for future stories. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, though.
