Book CoverDina’s review of True-Blue Cowboy Christmas (Big Sky Cowboys, Book 3) by Nicole Helm
Contemporary Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 4 Oct 16

Well, darn! This book was so good, I will have to read the first two in the Big Sky Cowboy series. I do enjoy well-developed characters and a story line that reads like a roller coaster ride.

Summer Shaw’s life was less than perfect with no white picket fence in sight, much less the shadows. Her mother, if you could call her that, is a manipulative shrew.

Summer ran away as soon as life was totally unbearable with her mother. She found her brother and sister and the man she knew as her father. Life was better and she was learning to make it on her own terms. When a little girl unexpectedly turns up on her doorstep, life changes is so many unexpected ways.

Having some Christmas spirit and knowing that you owe the people around you Christmas spirit are entirely two different things. No one knows this better than Thack Lane. Going after what you want and feeling every time you do someone around you gets hurt is something that Thack is well acquainted with also. His protective instincts are so strong, everyone around him is miserable.

Nicole Helm has created very believable, well-developed characters.  Their issues are real and complex. As everyone learns to work together, I found myself cheering for them along the way. There wasn’t a time I wished the story would end. This is Book3 in the ‘Big Sky Cowboys’ series, and it looks like I will have to hunt up the first two.

Summary:

Thack Lane has his hands full. For the past seven years, he’s been struggling to move on from his wife’s tragic death and raise a daughter all by his lonesome. He doesn’t have time for himself, much less a cheerful new neighbor with a smile that can light up the ranch.

Christmas spirit? Bah, humbug.

With Christmas right around the corner, Summer Shaw is searching for somewhere to belong. When her neighbor’s young daughter takes a shine to her, she is thrilled. But Thack is something else altogether. He’s got walls around his heart that no amount of holiday wishes can scale…and yet as joy comes creeping back to the lonely homestead, Summer and Thack may just find their happily ever after before the last of Christmas miracles are through…
