Book CoverDinca’s review of A Cowboy Christmas Miracle (Burnt Boot, Texas, Book 4) by Carolyn Brown
Contemporary Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 6 Sep 16

Am I falling in love with Burnt Boot, Texas, along with a redheaded hellion and a sandy-haired, blue-eyed cowboy? Oh yeah, a great combo and a very enjoyable afternoon read. After all, who doesn’t love a modern-day Romeo and Juliet!

For a town of feuding people, all the main characters in this story have a good sense of humor.  There are places in the town that is off limits to feuding, such as the general store, the church, and the local bar where the weekly poker game takes place.

Betsey Gallagher hates the 100-year feud between her family and the Brennons. The family has had so many “wars,” they actually name them. This Christmas things get a little out of hand – so much so that the town is without a Christmas event. All the holiday decorations were destroyed in the feud. Betsey wants nothing more to do with the family wars. She would like to find her soul mate, settle down and have a family. It’s kind of hard to do when you are related to half the town and the other half is off limits because they bear the name Brennon.

Declan Brennon has developed a reputation as a womanizer, because he cannot have what he really wants – one sassy little redhead by the name of Betsey Gallagher. He would be disowned and run out of town if he even looks her way, until an opportunity falls in his lap at the local bar. Taking a bet at the weekly card game presented by her cousin Tanner, all Declan has to do is lose the game and the hefty pot sitting on the table is his and he also has open access to chase he woman of his dreams.

To spend time with Betsey without her finding out about the bet, he places another wager with her on who can gather the most Christmas items for the church. Trying to keep the Christmas pageant a secret from the local gossips gets very complicated. It creates the little mysteries I would have liked to have seen solved.

I think I started this series with Book 4. It is a good story on its own without a lot of back fill on the other stories. It has just enough to make me want to read the other books, yet not so much I feel I needed to to enjoy this one. All in all, Carolyn Brown has created an enjoyable read and a great kickoff  to my  holiday reading season with Cowboy Christmas Miracle. It definitely makes me want to read the pervious books in this series.

It will take a miracle bigger than the state of Texas for these two feuding families to survive the holidays!

Opposites might attract…
The Brennans and the Gallaghers put aside their one-hundred-year feud every Tuesday for their weekly poker game. This week, the stakes are sky-high. If Declan can tame this wild Gallagher, he’ll have earned every penny.

If they don’t kill each other first…
Betsy can outshoot anybody in Burnt Boot and loves ranching more than anything-until she falls for Declan. He’s fallen for her too. But when she discovers what sparked their courtship, Declan will need a Christmas miracle to save his hide-and his heart.
