Tabs’ Duckies Do Series review of The Bad Bitch Series by Christina Saunders
Contemporary Romance published by SMP Swerve 05 Jul 16
I have been reading a crap-ton of contemporary titles lately and have realized the thing that will make me forgive all flaws and just nose-dive into an author’s books is voice. And, hoooo boy, does Christina Saunders have good voice. I couldn’t put any of these books down. The stories follow three lawyer brothers and they all have jerk heroes, women who don’t suffer fools, bad-ass lawyers, and glorious profanity dripping from every page.
Bad Bitch, Book 1

This first book has a ball-busting, bad-ass defense attorney heroine who enjoys crushing her enemies. Evan rules over her firm with an iron fist – intimidating everyone around her, slinging insults at her associates, and making them sexually service her. Her clients are especially terrible people and they pay her exceptionally well to cover their asses. When she takes on a client who masterminded an unusually lucrative Ponzi scheme, she crosses paths with hot-as-shit prosecutor Lincoln Granade, and the sparks (and clothes, of course) fly.
My big issue with this book is that I feel like Saunders wrote checks she couldn’t cash. The book starts out with an erotica feel but then abruptly drops it. It also finds ways to rationalize Evan’s behavior and that takes a lot of the wind out of her sails. The insta-lust and obsessed hero are fun to read, but the story lacks overall consistency. I also finished the book mightily confused about the state of Evan’s safety and what was feasible for her and Lincoln’s relationship. No one likes ending a book confused.
Grade: C+
Summary:
They call me the Bad Bitch. A lesser woman might get her panties in a twist over it, but me? I’m the one who does the twisting. Whether it’s in the courtroom or in the bedroom, I’ve never let anyone – much less a man – get the upper hand.
Except for that jerk attorney Lincoln Granade. He’s dark, mysterious, smoking hot and sexy as hell. He’s nothing but a bad, bad boy playing the part of an up and coming premiere attorney. I’m not worried about losing in a head to head battle with this guy. But he gets me all hot and bothered in a way no man has ever done before. I don’t like a person being under my skin this much. It makes me want to let go of all control, makes me want to give in. This dangerous man makes me want to submit to him completely, again, and again, and again…

Hardass, Book 2
05 Jul 16
We have an inappropriate office romance in the house! Washington Granade’s practice has a “no fucking the associates” rule and he knows it. Hell, it was his idea. But that doesn’t stop him from wanting to throw all of the rules out the damn window where junior associate Caroline Montreat is concerned. The woman drives him crazy – both purposefully and not. When she wins a coveted spot working with him on the defense of an accused serial killer, it’s inevitable that their sexual tension will get the best of them.
This is easily my favorite entry in the series simply because Caroline is so deliciously profane and foul-mouthed. She’s hilarious. I’m totally on board forever and ever with heroines who threaten to cunt-punt their nemeses. She knows what she wants and goes for it. She may be younger and less experienced than Wash, but she totally holds her own. “Don’t be jealous. Or do. I like when people are jealous. It means I’m doing something right.”
Grade: A-
Summary:
I cave in to no one. My hardass exterior is what makes me one of the hottest defense lawyers around. It’s why I’m the perfect guy to defend the notorious Bayou Butcher serial killer – and why I’ll come out on top.
Except this new associate I’ve hired is unnaturally skilled at putting chinks in my well-constructed armor. Her brazen talk and fiery attitude make me want to take control of her and silence her – in ways that will keep both of us busy till dawn. She drives me absolutely 100% crazy, but I need her for this case. I need her in my bed. I need her to let loose the man within me who fights with rage and loves with scorching desire…

Total D*ck, Book 3
05 Jul 16
This is a total opposites attract romance. Scarlet Carmichael is a former debutante, a highly skilled and respected defense attorney in a male-dominated practice, and a consummate professional. Kennedy Granade is none of those things. He’s a plaintiff’s lawyer and he’s a (as the title aptly suggests) total dick. This mismatched pair have to work together on a major corporate espionage case for a client of Scarlet’s firm. Of course, their butting heads quickly turns into bumping uglies. Watching Scarlet and Kennedy clash is a lot of fun, and this series closes on a definite high note.
Grade: B+
Summary:
I’m your classic skirt chaser. A womanizer. A total d*ck. My reputation is dirtier than a New Orleans street after a Mardi Gras parade. I take unwinnable cases and win them. Where people see defeat, I see a big fat paycheck. And when most men see rejection, it’s because the sexiest woman at the bar has already promised to go home with me.
But Scarlett Carmichael is the one person I can’t seem to conquer. This too-cool former debutante has it all—class, attitude, and a body that begs to be worshipped. I’ve never worked with a person like her before—hell, I’ve never played nice with anyone before in my life, and I’m not about to start with her. This woman wasn’t meant to be played nicely with. It’s going to be dirty. It’s going to be hot. She’s about to spend a lot of time with the biggest d*ck in town. And she’s going to love every minute of it…

Overall Grade: B+
This series is a lot of fun. It’s got bad-ass heroines who rock at their jobs; hot heroes who also rock at their jobs; lots of sexy lusting and inappropriate office shenanigans; and plenty of hilarious quotes. Christina Saunders also writes as author Celia Aaron, and you can be damn sure I’ll be looking up her backlist.
