Tabs’ review of The Billionaire Takes a Bride (Billionaires and Bridesmaids, Book 3) by Jessica Clare
Contemporary Erotic Romance published by InterMix 20 Oct 15
This is the third Billionaires and Bridesmaids book that Jessica Clare has released this year and, quite frankly, I think she must have made a deal with some evil deity, because I can’t think of any other feasible explanation for how she keeps out-doing herself. Each and every book in this series has landed on my favorites shelf this year, and I am one picky bitch.
Contemporary marriage of convenience is a favorite trope of mine, so I was already primed to leap upon this book with glee before I even started it. What I was not prepared for is for sexy roller-derby girl Chelsea and soulful secret artist Sebastian to worm their way into my heart and make me feel all the feels. But they totally do.
First off, I really love how Chelsea and Sebastian bond as friends almost immediately. I love watching people just enjoy being together and they are totally adorable. However, not everything is smiles and roses because Chelsea has some serious issues. She really makes this book for me. She’s so loving and sweet and desperately trying to hold on. Watching her struggles and frustrations is devastating at times, but I feel the subject matter is handled respectfully and uniquely. I just want her to be happy so badly and to be able to enjoy it.
Sebastian, of course, falls absolutely crazy in love with Chelsea, even though he promises her a platonic relationship. He’s such a rock, though. He doesn’t want to be that guy who pressures someone because his feelings have the audacity to change, so he chooses not to be. He is so supportive and strong and patient and just all-around wonderful.
This review has probably been one huge gush-fest of positive adjectives, but I just don’t care. Jessica Clare continues to write some of my favorite contemporary romances of the year. They have wicked-hot sex, smart and sexy banter, and genuine affection. I could not love them more. I don’t, however, love that I now I have to wait eight months for more billionaires and their bridesmaids hook-ups. *Makes pouty face.* *Prepares to wait impatiently.*
