Veena’s review of Marry Me At Christmas (Fool’s Gold, Book 19) by Susan Mallery
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin 29 Sep 15
This book continues with the next Fool’s Gold romance where the last one left off. Johnny Blaze, famous movie star, has settled in on his newly purchased ranch. He’s happy to mingle with the folks in town, pleased to be treated like a normal person. His beloved sister’s upcoming nuptials takes him into the local bridal boutique and face to face with Madeline Krug. The rest, Dear Readers, is pure Fool’s Gold history…
Madeline has always had a crush on movie star Johnny Blaze. Now given an opportunity to work closely with him to plan his sister’s wedding, she needs to suppress that hero worship and give Johnny and his sister the normal they crave.
I totally enjoyed how Madeline keeps Johnny reined in when he wants to go overboard and change the wedding that his sister wants into a glamorous star-studded fest. This story is vintage Fool’s Gold, revisiting with lots of people we’ve met through the various books and enjoying the festivals.
I absolutely love the end with Johnny conjecturing about more over-the-top ideas that he can use to surprise Madeline with. These are great books and I continue to enjoy them, however deep we are in the series.
Grade: A
Summary:
To bridal boutique owner Madeline Krug, organizing a Christmas wedding sounds like a joy—until she finds out she’ll be working closely with the gorgeous brother of the bride, movie star Jonny Blaze. How will a small-town girl like her keep from falling for the world’s sexiest guy? Especially with mistletoe lurking around every corner!
Jonny came to Fool’s Gold looking for normal, not for love. Happily-ever-after only happens in the movies. Still, nothing about this quirky town is quite what he expected, and “ordinary” Madeline is the most extraordinary woman he’s ever met. Refreshingly honest, disarmingly sweet. Achingly beautiful.
Planning the perfect wedding leads to candlelit dinners and strolls through snow-covered streets. And Madeline finds Jonny in real life even more captivating than her celebrity crush. But will the action star be brave enough to risk his heart and step into the role of a lifetime?
