This is a fairly typical billionaire meets poor girl, falls head over heels and tries to figure out how to buy her affection until he’s able to go through the learning curve to discover that money can’t buy love. Their first meeting, stranded in the middle of a raging hurricane, is definitely novel, though the rest of the book follows a fairly predictable story line.
Bronte and Logan should never have met, except they’re both stranded on a tropical island in the middle of a hurricane. Under difficult circumstances they forge a connection. Her bubble gets burst pretty quickly when Logan is rescued by another billionaire friend via helicopter and is taken to said friend’s luxury home. I do like that she responds to Logan’s arrogance and assumptions by walking out on him and his friend.
I find Logan a typical arrogant billionaire who has no qualms about hiring an investigator, and, once he locates Bronte, buying the diner where she works in order to force her back in his life. Bronte, of course, manages to force him to do the right thing by all the people she works with in exchange for her time with him.
The rest of the story is fairly predictable as Logan goes through the transformation from an arrogant billionaire into a caring lover. Ms. Clare does a good job of introducing the reader to the rest of Logan’s friends, who no doubt will get their comeuppance, as well as teeing up the next couple.
