Sandy M’s review of Wild Ride by Juliette Jones
Erotic Contemporary Romance published by Juliette Jones 21 Feb 14

The idea of this story is a good one. There’s something, however, keeping me from being fully invested in the characters. I think that number one reason is the length of the book. More is needed to flesh out each of the characters a bit more to make them really come alive.

Lacey is in a going-nowhere relationship with a selfish jerk of a man. When he finally breaks the camel’s back by taking her hard-earned money she’s saved and then striking her for daring to question him about it, Lacey is outta there. Her beat-up car lasts until she crosses into Texas, thank goodness. The more distance between her and the jerk, the better. Now having to hitchhike to get to the friend she hopes is still around, Lacey is saved from taking a ride with a man who doesn’t seem like a good bet.

The red Mustang is a much better choice with its handsome and sexy cowboys, so Lacey doesn’t hesitate to hop into the convertible. Even though she later hesitates when Riley and Nate Walker, who are cousins, offer her an opportunity she’d never have gotten anywhere else. What the hell – she’s twenty-one and free and she’ll never see them again anyway. So she eagerly takes the two up on that offer and spends one wild night in a swanky hotel room being loved to the nth degree.

This is definitely a sizzling hot read. Nate is the laid back one, taken off guard at his feelings for Lacey as they spend time together. Riley is the fun, adventurous one, and you can’t help but smile every time he’s around. And maybe that’s why I wanted this book to be a bit longer. There’s so much more deep down and it’s just cut short, leaving me hanging a bit and let down I don’t get to know these characters better.

It is, though, a quick, light read. So along with the sizzling aspects, it’s fun and definitely wild.
