Veena’s review of The Millionaire Affair (Love In The Balance, Book 3) by Jessica Lemmon
Contemporary Romance published by Forever Yours 24 Jun 14
Landon loves very little in life but, his family, especially his nephew, has a special place in his heart. When his brother needs someone to take care of said nephew, Landon rises to the occasion, but he quickly realizes that he needs help. Saying no is not an option for Kimber, who’s offered the job, especially since not only can she really use the money but she’s secretly lusted after Landon since she was sixteen. This is a fun, light-hearted romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Landon is the veritable tin man. His heart was turned to stone when his college girlfriend aborted their accidental pregnancy. Deciding that love and emotion are not for him, he moves on to create a successful business where he can focus a 100% of himself, leaving messy relationships for other people. When the demands of his killer schedule clash with the needs of his adorable nephew, he gives in to his sister’s persuasion and brings in Kimber to help.
Angel’s trying to match-make by putting Kimber in her nephew’s vicinity, little realizing that Kimber actually carries a torch for Landon. Well, it all works out in the end, since it’s actually Landon who Kimber wants, and he definitely finds his libido rising at her proximity. Pretty soon they work out a deal to have a short-term affair to burn through their lust. To give their deal a timeframe, they work out a ten-point plan of all the things they want to do to each other, and when the list is finished, poof their affair is done. Well, we all know that life isn’t truly that simple.
I think it’s so cute that the polished, urbane Landon breaks down so completely and then leaves a drunk, maudlin voicemail for the wrong “K” from his contacts list. It’s a good thing that he has such good friends. We also catch glimpses of the couples from the earlier books that I haven’t yet read but definitely plan to.
Grade: B
Summary:
LOVE IS A DEAL BREAKER . . .
Millionaire ad executive Landon Downey has a policy: no romantic relationships allowed. So when he’s saddled with his six-year-old nephew for a week, he doesn’t think twice about asking Kimber Reynolds to act as live-in nanny. What he doesn’t expect is the undeniable attraction to the woman he hasn’t seen since they were kids. And not only does she like him back-she suggests they work their way down a list of extracurricular activities in the bedroom. How can he resist?
Kimber wants to prove once and for all that she can love ’em and leave ’em with the best of them. All she has to do is keep her sixteen-year crush on Landon out of the equation. No problem . . . until she realizes she may not be the only one whose heart has gotten completely tangled up in their no-strings agreement.
