Veena’s review of Air Bound (Sisters Of The Heart, Book 3) by Christine Feehan
Paranormal Romance published by Jove Books 27 May 14

Each sister has walked her own dark and difficult path before they finally found each other. With no blood shared between them, they are sisters of the heart and live a somewhat secluded life in a small town where their gifts don’t stand out. As readers, we’ve certainly guessed that these stories are going to feature a Prakenskii brother as the hero, and yet Ms. Feehan’s talent is such that she keeps each story fresh and appealing as she dives into the depth of each new character that she creates. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the brothers as she coaxes them one by one out of the shadows.

Airiana is an air element. The wind whispers in her ears and sends her puzzles to solve in the patterns to be found in nature, especially the clouds. She loves that two of her sisters have found their soul mates, but she definitely wants to stay far away from the remaining Prakenskii’s for fear that the next one might be hers. Unfortunately for her, Maxim is already at her doorstep and he’s definitely not bearing flowers and hearts.

Kidnapped, taken out of her safe haven and forced to confront the hidden truth of her past, Ariana’s left reeling with possible stability to be found with Maxim Prakenskii. As a teen she had worked on a project to control the climate to help third-world countries and now a couple of high-profile criminals have their eye on weaponizing her technology for which they need her skills. Maxim might have kidnapped her originally, but surprisingly she feels safe with him. Besides which he has the same gifts that she has, except he’s actually used and honed them and can help her do the same.

Together they make a formidable team as they run from their enemies, taking out some extremely unpleasant people and saving a small family of orphans along the way. She wants nothing more than to disappear and hide, but, in order to keep her loved ones safe, her only choice is to partner with Maxim, forge new alliances, and take a stand against her enemies.

The relationship building is superb. The orphan children, especially the one small boy who is determined to protect his sisters, regardless of the price he has to pay and thirsts for revenge against his abusers, wrenched at my heart. Maxim is a lethal warrior, and yet the compassion and caring that he offers to the orphans or as he coaxes Airiana into the depths of the ocean which she hates, are very touching. The bloodthirsty battle that is waged using all the skills the brothers and sisters can bring to bear, including the elements, is superbly narrated.

I buy everything with Christine Feehan’s name, since I can’t get enough of her different stories. Please keep the stories coming, Ms. Feehan, as fast as you can.

Grade: A

Summary:

For as far back as she can remember, Airiana Ridell has always been aware of her extraordinary gift. She can intuit revealing and illuminating “patterns” in the air around her—whether in a spray of mist, in billowing clouds, or in the dense swirls of an impenetrable fog. Her abilities led to her placement in a secret government training facility when she was a child, but everything changed after her mother was murdered.

Airiana fled the program, but she couldn’t outrun the desperate members of a shadowy cabal who want her, who need her, who will kill to get her. Kidnapped and held aboard a ship bound for dangerous seas, her only chance for rescue is Maxim Prakenskii. He has his reasons for helping her, but he isn’t about to reveal them to Airiana. Not yet. Not as the two are drawn together as moth to flame. Not when there are so many secrets yet untold that could shatter the quaint community of Sea Haven and all who reside there…
