Hello, Duck Pond! I’m happy and excited to be here today. I’m even more excited to talk about my new Prairie Hearts Novel, Before the Larkspur Blooms, which launches today. Thank you! And special thanks to Sandy M for reviewing it!
When I began the journey of writing the sequel to my first book, Where the Wind Blows, I wasn’t quite sure what route the novel would take. As much as I try to outline, I’m a pantster through and through. My characters tend to take the story where it needs to go, all of them vying for time and attention.
So it didn’t take but a page or two before my new hero and heroine, Thom Donovan and Hannah Hoskins, started causing all sorts of conflict and fun. Before the Larkspur Blooms is a story of lost childhood love rekindled into flame. It’s set in Logan Meadows, the small town where Chase and Jessie’s small family sunk their roots in the conclusion of Where the Wind Blows.
I’ll bet you can remember your first crush from long ago. The boy who made your cheeks burn when he looked your way. The one you knew could make you happy for all time–if he would just realize you were alive. My first crush was in Mrs. Thomas’s fourth-grade class in Diamond Springs, CA. (I won’t tell you what year.) His name was Vic Ladue–sort of sounds like a country singer, doesn’t it? (Wonder what he ended up doing.) With white-blond hair and piercing blue eyes, Vic was as cool as a fourth grader can be. Oh, how my heart went pitter-patter whenever he was around! You know the feeling.
And, for a chance to win a signed copy of Before the Larkspur Blooms, leave me a brief comment about your first crush. It’s fast, it’s easy–and the memory will warm your heart.
I had sooo many crushes when I was young, I can’t remember any of them. It is a big blur. I do remember having a crush on David Cassidy when I was young.
I did too, Lori! I loved his hair. LOL And you’re right about having lots of crushes. Those were the good ol’ days. Thanks for entering!!!
I guess my first crush was when I was thirteen. Oh I was so much in love with Danny. I couldn’t even tell you where he is at today. I will tell you he was really cute and I got to kiss him during spin the bottle at a party.
I went for the bad boys in junior high. (It was one guy in seventh grade, and another in eighth.) The problem was, they disappeared to reform school without warning… 🙁
My first crush was in high school and this was my beshert, soulmate and love for life. We are now married and happily ever after.
My first crush was when I was 10 years old and this boy who I remember vividly was enamored with me. It ended when school finished for the summer holidays.
Hey, Quilt Lady, how are you? Yes, I played spin the bottle at my seventh grade birthday party! What was my ma thinking? LOL
Leslie, that’s funny—well, sort of. I hope they turned out okay. Thanks for sharing your memories….
Diane, that is impressive! Congrats on that!
Hi, Ellie~~
Oh, those school holidays. I, too, remember a budding relationship ending after my eight-grade graduation. We both went off to different parts of the county and then high school is so much larger.
