Wrath's EmbraceSandy M’s review of Wrath’s Embrace (Masters of Sin, Book 1) by Tawny Taylor
Contemporary Paranormal Romance published by Ellora’s Cave Twilight 1 May 09

From the first few pages of this book, I knew I was in for a good time. Before I finished it, I knew I wanted to read the other books Ms. Taylor has planned in this series. A little bit of sin lives in each of us, and for the heroes of these books, they literally take on the characteristics of the sin that lives in each of them. Wrath is up first, and finally peace is within these men’s grasp. Now they just have to find a way to grab it and hold on.

Magus and Cyr are best friends and lovers, they share the fury, the ire, the rage of Wrath. It’s been foretold there is someone out there for them that will calm the beasts inside of them, but it’s been centuries and still they carry such anger, able to appease it only by sheer will, loving each other, and any type of strenuous and arduous exercise or a good friendly pounding on each other.

It’s when they meet Gina that they know for sure the ancient prediction has come true. Just being near her gives them such unbelievable peace. Needing her more than anything, wanting her just as much, their only goal now is to show her how they need her. And how she needs them.

But Gina is gun shy after a not-so-great relationship, though these two men ooze charm, sexiness, and sensuality. Any woman would be happy to grace their bed and she’d be kept quite happy in it. Magus and Cyr would see to that. Finally agreeing to no-strings sex because all her attention needs to go to her grandmother who is not doing well lately, Gina find herself thoroughly loved and in a quandary at how she can now move on and leave these two incredible lovers behind. Even if they are slightly crazy thinking they’re immortal and other such silliness.

When Gina finally decides she wants to be their submissive, she’s confused when they deny her, telling her they want more than the games she’s willing to play if they’re to be her master. At this point I like how Ms. Taylor gives these characters the time to grow and realize their mistakes to make better decisions in their lives instead of giving us one of those too-easy endings we get much too often in books like this.

I enjoy very few D/s and menage stories because most are just over the top, but Ms. Taylor does a very good job of letting us first see inside her characters, giving us enough emotion from them all to then make you care what happens to them and to go along with what they decide. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. Sin has never looked so good.

A little off topic, Ms. Taylor, please do some repairs on your website. I clicked two or three dead links and then gave up trying to get whatever info I needed for this review. It’s very frustrating not being able to find what you need when you need it!

Summary:

One woman. Two masters who will tempt her to sin.

Cyr and Magus. Two immortal men, possessed by the spirit of Wrath. Its voice is never silent. Its evil demands almost impossible to resist. Driving their desires, testing their will every minute of every day. Until they meet Gina. They want her. They need her. Her love and submission. For she is the light to their darkness. Their peace. Their gift.

Tormented by her own submissive needs, her denied passions, Gina is wary of the blatant masculinity of her new neighbors. They’re both gorgeous. Charming. Seductive. Dominant. But below the surface, she senses a seething rage, barely restrained, even while her body responds to every heated look, touch and word.

A battle is being waged—for the lives and souls of two men—and Gina is the key. And as the darkness closes in, and Magus and Cyr struggle with the malevolent beast threatening to consume them, only one woman’s sexual surrender and loving touches can quiet the monster possessing them.
