This is a new YA novel hitting the shelves at the end of the month. I was somewhat surprised at the plot… is it just me or is this pretty original? What you think of it?
AS FAR AS anyone at her high school knows, Jill McTeague is an average smart girl trying to get her dream date to ask her to the prom.
What no one knows, except for Jill’s mom and dad, is that for the four days Jill is out of school each month, she is not Jill at all. She is Jack, a genuine boy—complete with all the parts. Jack lives his four days per month in the solitude of Jill’s room. But his personality has been building since the cycling began. He is less and less content with his confinement and his cycles are becoming more frequent. Now Jill’s question about the prom isn’t who she’ll go with, but who she’ll be when the big night arrives.
… … … for serious? >.<
Sounds cool, although that cover sucks. It should be cute but that photo is uber-unflattering.
It’s hard to tell though from the blurb if Jill is equipped with female genetalia while Jill. The originality line changes if she’s a crossdresser or if it’s a SF/F full body switch.
I know Neil Gaiman did a short story involving pills to switch gender, and there’s been a number of YA books (in the past two years especially) that deal with crossdressing.
tis full on… and woot you can review it 😉
Liv- that made me think of some wild book where the characters hate each other, and these two women give this guy their hormone pills to make him a woman – each not knowing the other is doing it. A friend told me about it eons ago. (Like 5-6)
Interesting…odd. I’m curious in a Liviania should read it and write a detailed review so I don’t have to read it myself kind of way.
I don’t mind being volunteered, it looks fun to me.
Lime – how odd. /I would so read that too.
It was a very interesting book. I was in the library today and saw a stack of books to be put away. The book had no summary on the cover, so i had to start reading it. very good.
I’ve really enjoyed reading your articles. You obviously know what you are talking about! Your site is so easy to navigate too, I’ve bookmarked it in my favourites 😀
