Sandy M's review of Her Sexiest Mistake by Jill Shalvis
Contemporary Romance published by Signet Eclipse 6 Dec 05
I picked up this book because I wasn't in the right area of the house when I'd just finished my current read at the time. So I pulled open the closest drawer -- I knew it would be full of books -- and Ms. Shalvis' name jumped out at me. She has become an all-time favorite author for me after reading just a few of her books. So I thought, when I cracked this one open, let's see if she really does live up to that praise. Read more

Devon’s review of Red Fire (Gods of Midnight, Book 1) by Deidre Knight
Paranormal Romance released by Signet Eclipse 7 Oct 08
Sometimes I feel like a broken record. I say the same things over and over. My review of Red Fire is sure to contain certain phrases I’ve used before, lots. The first entry in new series featuring a brotherhood of immortal Spartans, Red Fire contained some intriguing elements, yet managed to put me to sleep several times. Those who enjoyed "Troy," "300" and anything involving sweaty, fighting, loin-clothed Greeks will enjoy, but there were some issues. Read more

Devon’s review of Night Falls Darkly by Kim Lenox
Historical Paranormal Romance released by Signet Eclipse 7 Oct 08
I love Victorian England. While by no means an expert, I took my share of Victorian lit courses in college. Full of repression and a society in tumult, the Victorian period certainly lends itself to a dark and dramatic paranormal. Night Falls Darkly, the debut from Kim Lenox, captures the Victorian atmosphere well, and sets an interesting romance against the backdrop of one of the greatest unsolved crimes ever—the Jack the Ripper murders. Contemporary Romance released by Signet Eclipse 7 Oct 08
I love Ms. McLane’s southern romantic comedies, but before I tried those I read one of her steamer stories in an anthology and really liked it. I was very excited to see that she was writing steamier stories this time and even more exited that it would be a full length novel. Read more

Lawson's review of Highland Knight by Cindy Miles
Contemporary paranormal romance released by Signet Eclipse 3 Jun 08
I really enjoyed Miles' first book, Spirited Away. It was cute, light and sweet. I was far less impressed with her second book, Into Thin Air. I wasn't too excited when Sybil gave me this one because the last one kinda made me not want to read anything else by this author. But I figured, I'd give it a try and see if the last book was just a sophomore slump and I'd enjoy this one.

Lawson's review of Dark Obsession (A Novel of Blackheath Moor) by Allison Chase
Historical romance released by Signet Eclipse 6 May 08
Set to be a moody Gothic romance, Dark Obsession sounded like a good story. Deep passions, escape from scandal and a possibly haunted house out on the moors in Cornwall. Add in a mystery of how someone dies and the appearance of a ghostly helper, Gothic is something this story is packed with. Unfortunately, the dark passions it strives for and the players of the piece end up more temperamental that brooding and mysterious. Maybe it's trying to hard to be Wuthering Heights.

Devon's review of A Fiend In Need by Maureen Child
Contemporary paranormal romance released by NAL Trade 4 Mar 08
This book contains: a snarky, flippant narrator; multiple Buffy/Angel references; the overuse of the word "hoo-hah" as a euphemism for girl parts; several possible love interests; and, no HEA in sight.
If these things make you want to groan and gnash your teeth, consider yourself warned. Read more

Finn's review of Evermore (A Novel of the Darkyn) by Lynn Viehl
Paranormal romance released 2 Jan 08 by Signet Eclipse
Evermore is the 5th novel of the Darkyn (Knight Templers who came back from the holy land with a curse, vampirism). This is the story of Jayr and Byrne, seneschal and master. Problem is, they both secretly yearn for each other and refuse to act on those urges. I love Viehl's Darkyn series and was eagerly anticipating this installment. It did not disappoint.

Contemporary romantic suspense released 2 Jan 07 by Signet Eclipse
Once I got into the mind frame that this book is more romantic suspense than the cowboy romance I was expecting, I started to enjoy it, and it ended up being a very good read. It's just that from the nice cover and the summary on the back, I was expecting more of an out-and-out romance, but the romance definitely takes a back seat to the mysterious death of the sister of the heroine, which turns out to be a good plot and a test for the hero, who is once again coming up against the man who basically owns the town and who also happens to be the father of the heroine.
