To have a little bit of a recap. . .
May 15, 2008
Tuesday May 13, Lisa Kleypas visited The Good, The Bad and The Unread. Fun things happened like some great questions discussing heroes and point of view and thanks for the great, wonderful, spectacular responses. There were some excerpts from Lisa’s upcoming books, Seduce Me at Sunrise (can I have it now Sybil? Pretty please?) and A Wallflower Christmas. And, of course, Lisa herself was here all day! SSQQQUUEEE! Read more

A Wallflower Christmas is the story of Rafe Bowman, an American businessman who comes to London to marry an English bride. All the original wallflowers appear in the novel, and at Sybil’s request I’m sharing a clip of a scene between Evie and Sebastian
LisaK Discussion Question 4
May 13, 2008
To wrap up (maybe) our discussion questions for today, an inspiration has come from Lisa’s wonderful heroes. Yes, we’re back to heroes, but let’s face it ladies, without men in our lives things could get rather boring. Boring is not a word ever used to describe a Kleypas hero. Why is that do you suppose? Hmm. . . Read more

Perhaps it’s time to change directions in these discussions. Although discussing the hero is very fun, it’s not always what makes a romance. In fact, there a lot of elements that go into romance, and one of which is the point of view. Point of view? What? We’ve gone into the realm of some literary discussion here, but just go with it. . . Review: Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas

Sandy M’s review of Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas
Contemporary Romance Audiobook released by Brilliance Audio on 25 Mar 08
I wasn’t sure I was going to continue to like Hardy Cates because of some of his behavior in Sugar Daddy where we first meet the man. However, I knew I would like him because, well, he is the hero of this book and I know he will be redeemed. I never dreamed, though, I would like love him as much as I do after listening to the audio version of his book. Its narrator, Renée Raudman, does a brilliant job of bringing this book to life, including making Hardy one damn fine sexy hero. Read more
LisaK Discussion Question 2
May 13, 2008
In continuing with a little theme here, that is about heroes, we have discussion question number two. From what we call our heroes down a different path. There are, of course, different heroes that speak in different ways to everyone. Authors write them different ways and thus give a wide variety of rakes, rogues, etc. But . . . Read more
How Raw Becomes Real, or how to get from point A to point B
May 13, 2008
The publishing industry has never heard the adage, “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.”
You ever wonder what an author has to do to get from raw, unedited text to a finished product? What changes do their creations go thru? Do they have to give up really good stuff to make it work?
I’m happy you asked! We have an example of what Lisa Kleypas went thru to get from the raw, unedited Seduce Me at Sunrise (St. Martin’s releases it 30 Sep 08) excerpt we posted last October to what you see below - the finished product. The process is actually quite fascinating…

Review: Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas

Lawson’s review of Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas
Historical romance released by St. Martin’s 2 Oct 07
As much as I love Lisa Kleypas and her books, it’s amazing that it took me six months to read this one. I’ve got to say though that the minute I was finished with Mine Till Midnight, I really wanted to read Seduce Me at Sunrise. Someday soon. . .Oh yeah, I’ve gotten off track. Mine Till Midnight is the first in the series about the Hathaway family. There are also some scenes with characters from the Wallflower books, and it’s always nice to spend more time with Marcus, Lord Westcliff and Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent. Read more
