REVIEW: Touch of Darkness by Christina Dodd

Sandy M's review of Touch of Darkness (Darkness Chosen, Book 2) by Christina Dodd
Contemporary Paranormal Romance published by Signet 7 Aug 07
This is another series I got behind in reading, but thank goodness there's only four books in the series. It won't be that hard to catch up with it. With this second book down, I'm enjoying the series so far, and it should only get more interesting considering the hero of the next book hasn't been heard from for years and the last hero -- er, heroine -- uh, well, since I haven't looked ahead I'm not sure what's going to happen! I'm looking forward to it, though. Read more

I've been kind of bemused by the taking off of so many books in the YA genre lately, and have found myself thinking on more than one occasion, 'Where the hell were these books when I was seventeen?' Read more

Contemporary romances released by Silhouette Desire & Harlequin Presents
I've been in bed for a week with the flu for the past week, and all I could do was read. So, being woolly-headed, I went for Harlequin, my comfort reads of choice.
Apart from my fave Sara Cravens, I discovered Olivia Gates’ Throne of Judar trilogy, and Sandra Marton's The Billionaires' Brides series. Totally preposterous plots, but if you go with them, you find interesting characters and situations that the authors work hard for you to believe in. Read more

Shannon C.'s review of Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
Fantasy humor fiction released by Ace 1 May 96, re-released by Harper in trade ppb 7 Aug 07
An embarrassing number of people have told me that I need to read both Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I had read neither until I picked up Good Omens on a whim and consequently realized that I'd put off a very real treat. Read more

Erotic fantasy romance released by Aphrodisia 1 Aug 07
Wow! What a pleasant surprise this book was! I'd been expecting yet another cheesy erotic romance with a lame plot that would lead to much sexoring. I hadn't been expecting a compelling story full of warmth and emotion, with characters I quickly connected with, and told in such a captivating way. Yet, that's exactly what I got, and I now have a new author to look out for. I really appreciated the tip from Karen Scott about this book. Read more

Contemporary paranormal romance released by Love Spell 28 Aug 07
I kept my hopes up that this book would bring the series together and be a satisfying pseudo ending for the first four books. I'm happy to say that my hopes were very highly rewarded. The action, romance, and emotion was perfect and we're left in just the right place for the next edition of the series, beginning with Tain's story, The Redeeming, due out next month.

Futuristic romance published by Shomi 28 Aug 07
I'd heard quite a lot about this book when the Shomi line from Dorchester started, and since Ms. Kenin's sequel is already high up on the list of books that Sybil thinks I need to read, I thought it would be good to unearth this book from my TBR and give it a go. Read more

Historical Romance released by Harlequin Historical 1 Aug 07
I rarely comment on covers, but I hate this cover. I'm glad I didn't pay too much attention to the cover when I ordered this online. The people are not particularly attractive, the heads don't quite match the bodies, and they look stiff and awkward. Disregard the cover, because the book contained within is good, and this is coming from someone who rarely enjoys Medievals.

This is the first novel in a series about ACRO, the Agency for Covert Rare Operatives. The series is a mix of erotic romance and adventure and suspense in an alternative universe where the paranormal is not as rare as we might think.
