Sandy M’s review of Always You (Adair Family, Book 3) by Samantha Young
Contemporary Romance published by Samantha Young 26 Apr 22

Fans of this series have been patiently – or impatiently as the case may be – for MacKennon’s and Arrochar’s story in this series. We have been teased nearly unmercifully through the first two books about their relationship. Will they get together or is Mac, the older man, going to break Arro’s heart because of their age difference? To say that is exactly what happens is only half of the story. There is so much more going on inside of Mac that most of us fans didn’t see coming.

While we know about the few issues that may keep these two apart – not just age but also the rest of the Adairs, as well as Robyn, Mac’s daughter – those issues are only the tip of the iceberg. Arro discovers this in a humiliating way when she believes Mac has finally come around and wants what has been brewing between them for years. But his rejection once again finally breaks her heart and her trust. She decides to move on, but then Mac realizes what he’s done and has some work to do to make sure his love for Arro is finally recognized.

This is an emotional read to begin with, and when Mac decides to bare all in therapy, your heart stutters for all he’s carried around for years, and we learn the reasons he’s always pulled back when it comes to loving Arro and making a life with her. And it’s almost too much too late for her. She does understand his reasons when she discovers all he’s doing to try to be in her life, but she’s fed up, angry, and it’s the trust she no longer has to overcome all the hurt.

Amid all of this is the mystery of the story. It seems a copycat of the evil ones from Book 2 is aiming again to bring the Adairs down. Mac does his best to keep Arrochar safe, but that new evil is getting closer and closer. Suspense and fear are added to the already roller-coaster ride our hero and heroine are experiencing. Ms. Young keeps the reader close to tears and then makes their blood pump when things go sideways.

Another wonderful addition to this series. There are two more books to come, and I, as well as all Samantha Young fans, can’t wait to get them in hand.

Grade: A

Summary:

Arrochar Adair has loved her brother’s ex-bodyguard and best friend, Mac Galbraith, for years. Once upon a time, she was too young for him, but now that she’s a mature woman in her thirties, Arro can see no issue with their difference in age. Yet something deeper, a problem much more difficult to surmount, is keeping them apart.

Mac Galbraith remembers clearly the night Arro became everything to him, no longer just his best friend and boss’s younger sister. However, having made many mistakes over the years, there is one mistake Mac is determined not to make: to believe that he is worthy of Arrochar Adair. Allowing them to grow closer during his daughter, Robyn’s, return has proven his undoing. And when Arro forces the subject of their relationship, his response pushes her away. He just never meant for it to destroy them completely.

Devastated by Mac’s final rejection, Arro is determined to move on without him in her life, though he seems intent on staying put. And when the Adair family face a new threat, one that may have ties to Mac’s past, Arro can’t seem to be rid of the man. In fact, Mac will do anything to protect her.

But with so much hurt between them, will Arro let Mac close enough to guard her from their enemy… before it’s too late?
