Book CoverDinca’s review of Brooks (Farraday Country, Book 2) by  Chris Keniston
Contemporary Romance published by Indie House Publishing 24 Oct 16

Farraday Country continues with the second brother, Brooks, and the mystical dog that runs away after making contact. This is another well-written and edited story that I enjoyed very much. I love the characters and the cake balls Toni makes. I laughed my head off at the card game debacle.

Dr. Brooks Farraday is dreading the encounter with his future sister-in-law’s friend. The last thing he wants to do is evaluate her well being. After deciding to put it off for another day, he makes a decision to head out to the ranch. He sees something in the road and assumes the worst. It turns out to be a dog and a woman. He tries to help, but the woman is a little prickly and the dog runs off. She blames him for scaring off the dog and accuses him of being a mean person.

Toni Castellano has a hard time seeing the good in anything. She has an uncanny knack of seeing abuse and recognizing it for what it is. While attending her friend’s wedding and also helping her get her bed-and-breakfast up and running, Toni discovers a whole town full of good and kind people she is falling in love with, including one charming doctor. Her life is already complicated enough, however. She doesn’t need another complication.

Just like Book 1 of Farraday Country, I read this one without putting it down. It’s a charming, loving story with interesting characters and several back stories that hold your attention. I laughed myself silly at the aforementioned card game and found a new way for a character to expire. As much as I enjoyed this book, I am going to give it a B, because, like the first one, It ended abruptly. I would’ve been happy with another chapter leading to the epilogue. Ms. Keniston still has my attention and I’m looking forward to Connor’s story, Book 3 of Farraday Country.

Summary:

On the way to his family’s ranch, Dr. Brooks Farraday encounters what he thinks is a hit and run. Instead he finds a beautiful stranger in the road petting a stray dog. He wants to be the friend she needs, but falling for her could come at too high price.

For Toni Castellano, attending a friend’s wedding in West Texas seems the perfect escape from her life in Boston. The last thing she needs is another man in her life. She fell for Prince Charming once with disastrous results. But could Brooks Farraday really be her knight in shining armor?
