Book CoverVeena’s review of One More Promise (Shaughnessy Brothers: Band On The Run, Book 2)by Samantha Chase
Contemporary Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 06 Feb 18

Full of emotion and family drama comes another winner from Samantha Chase.

Paige Walters has everything and nothing, as she struggles to win her father’s love and make a place for herself in the family PR business.  Just when she finally feels she’s holding the winning hand, her sister interferes, introducing rock ‘n roll bad guy Dylan Anders to upset the apple cart.  Get ready for fireworks and tears before it all comes together for a smooth finish.

The very successfully Shaughnessy Brothers band is on hiatus as the members take a much needed break from a series of concerts. Dylan Anders has battled with addiction and other excess for some time. His band mates and agents stage an intervention, checking him into rehab, where he gets the chance for self-discovery. Now fresh out of rehab, he needs a stint of community service to work off his debt to society, as well as a platform to polish up his tarnished image.  Paige Walter’s Literacy Project seems to be the perfect answer.

Paige is vehemently opposed to allowing the so-very-sexy Dylan Anders to wreck her pet project but bows to pressure from her father and sponsors.  Definitely not a great start to a relationship.  However, Dylan slowly but surely worms his way into Paige’s graces, especially given his own personal story about his struggle to read, which strikes a strong emotional note for Paige.

The intense sexual chemistry definitely raises the heat level as the two explore. Can two emotionally damaged people lower their final defenses and admit to a relationship that goes beyond the phenomenal sex?  It’s going to take some strong-arm techniques and a couple of interventions from their friends in order to deliver the happy ending, but it does all come together rather nicely, I must say.

There’s one more band member left to go. Given the glimpses that we get into his life in this book, I can’t wait to read his story.
