Book CoverTabs’ review of Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding by Victoria Davies
Contemporary Romance published by Entangled: Indulgence 10 Oct 16

I’m pretty sure I had never read a book from Entangled’s Indulgence line before this year, but I’ve glommed seven so far and have to say that I’m becoming a big fan of this line. (Feel free to give recommendations down in the comments!) They’ve been hitting my category romance sweet-spot just right. This book takes the boss/assistant-unrequited-love trope and executes it beautifully.

Darian King is a self-made man who lost his parents when he was on the cusp of adulthood and hasn’t opened up his heart since. He has put all of his energy into protecting his younger sister and giving her everything she needs. Even though she’s been traveling for the last few years and not living at home, her impending marriage is throwing him into a bit of an empty-nest spiral. The only person he trusts enough to help him pull off his sister’s wedding is the invaluable assistant he can’t live without.

Allison Reed bucked her family’s expectations of becoming a school teacher and wife in her small town, went to the big city, and landed a crazy job as a tycoon’s personal assistant, but she’s unhappy and longing for things she can’t get where she currently is. She’ll miss Darian, but she’s ready for a different pace and a different life. When he asks her to juggle helping him plan his sister’s last-minute extravaganza wedding with her other job duties, she decides it’ll be her last hurrah before she tells him she’s leaving.

Darian and Allison are stupid in love with each other and have been for years, though neither one of them has figured it out. They’re so friggin’ cute. It’s the little things that give them away. They just like talking with each other. Being together makes them both happy. He has a special scarf she bought for him and it’s the only one he ever wears. They’re friggin’ adorable. Watching them try to be “friends with benefits” and tweaking the rules as they go is fun, because it’s so obvious how things are going to end up.

This book hit the spot for me. It was charming as all get-out. The affection the main characters had for each other made me smile. This was a great read and I’d like Victoria Davies to write more contemporaries for me, please and thank you.

Summary:

Darian King has never met a challenge he couldn’t handle. Running a billion-dollar corporation? Piece of cake. Hostile takeovers? A walk in the park. But when his little sister begs him to plan her wedding, Darian finds himself less than prepared for the task. Luckily, he knows just who to ask for help.

Allison Reed wants nothing more than to leave King Enterprises behind. Being the personal assistant to a man like Darian is a 24/7 job. Asking her to help plan a wedding is simply the icing on the stress-filled cake but to leave she needs a glowing reference and will do anything to get it. Even plan a wedding with the man of her dreams.

Stepping outside the office has unexpected consequences. Darian doesn’t believe in relationships, yet he’s starting to see Allison in a whole new light. But he doesn’t know her secret, and she fears that by the time the vows are exchanged, she won’t just be leaving her job behind but her heart as well.
