Book CoverTabs’ review of Burn Down The Night (Everything I Left Unsaid, Book 3) by M. O’Keefe
Erotic Romance published by Loveswept 09 Aug 16

Desperate con-woman Joan doesn’t care what she has to sacrifice to rescue her sister from a dangerous meth-cooking cult-leader. When her last-ditch balls-to-the-wall plan goes pear-shaped, kidnapping a wounded biker and handcuffing him to a bed is really her only viable plan B. Being held hostage by a stripper and her elderly aunt isn’t Max’s idea of a good time at all and he’s determined to escape Joan’s clutches and make her pay. What ensues, against all odds, is a heart-achingly emotional romance between two battered people. You guys, it’s sooooo good.

Max and Joan are two sides of the same coin. They both grew up in bad situations and have siblings they’ve given their all to protect. They’ve also both made a lot of destructive life decisions over the years and feel like they aren’t worthy of good things and only bring destruction to the things they touch. They resort to sacrificing themselves when their backs are against the wall because they feel like that’s all they have to offer their loved ones.

“There were tons of other people in this world who would not understand what she was doing. Who wouldn’t get it. But what I saw was a person who had no idea what to do with something that was bright and shiny and clean. Not when everything in her life was dirty. So, the only thing to do was to take the bright and shiny and clean thing and mess it up. Just a little. Just so she could hold it in her hand.”

Joan, the tough-as-nails bisexual stripper with a secret gooey heart, is a total force to be reckoned with. She’s my favorite kind of heroine. She hides her vulnerability under an impenetrable exterior because wearing your heart on your sleeve only leads to it getting broken. She breaks your damn heart. Max tries his best not to form an emotional attachment to her, but it’s a hopeless endeavor from the get-go. Joan’s in exactly the same boat.

This book is another smart and witty and deeply emotional book from Molly O’Keefe and I can’t recommend it enough, really. This story ties into the Everything I Left Unsaid/Truth About Him duology, but I read it first and think it can easily stand on its own. Go read it. Go now.

Summary:

The only thing that matters to me is rescuing my sister from the drug-cooking cult that once enslaved us both. I’ve run cons my whole life, and I’ll use my body to get whatever I need. Max Daniels is the last connection I have to that world, the one person reckless enough to get involved. Besides, now that his brothers have turned on him, he needs me too.

The deal was supposed to be simple: a place to hide in exchange for rescuing my sister. Now he’s my prisoner. Totally at my mercy. But I’m the one captivated. Enthralled. Doing everything he asks of me until I’m not sure who’s in control.

We both crave the heat. The more it hurts, the better. But what if Max wants a different life now, to leave the game . . . to love me? I thought I knew better than to get burned. Now I’m in too deep to pull away. And the crazy thing is . . . I don’t want to.
