Book CoverVeena’s review of Rock Wedding (Rock Kiss, Book 4) by Nalini Singh
Contemporary Romance published by TKA Distribution 19 July 16

Nalini Singh is a phenomenal writer with the talent to sweep her reader into her worlds.  The school boy choir is a world famous-rock band who met in school and once they tasted success never looked back. Yet behind the successful façade is the impact the success has on each one of the members, whether it’s unlimited success with groupies or drugs and alcohol.  Abe has battled with his addiction throughout the series and the readers have also had the opportunity to meet his conniving ex-wife Sarah. Get ready for a highly emotional ride as you explore the inside of their marriage and what the future might hold for them.

Sarah has been painted as a hazy scarlet woman who took Abe for all she could when she walked out of the marriage. It turns out that the band has been sympathetic to her, each one having reached out to her in their own unique way when she lost her child. Certainly they all stood up for her when they found her being abused at one of their concert sites.  Abe, freshly out of rehab, has realized what he lost in Sarah and is  now committed to finding his way back to her.

Ms. Singh does an admirable job of painting the before and now as Abe works hard to forge a way back into Sarah’s heart. I could never have imagined a woman forgiving him, but his actions would melt anyone’s heart and Sarah, who’s never stopped loving him, is certainly not immune.

For all of Abe’s sweetness and determination and panty-melting actions, it’s Sarah who steals the show.  From the uncertain young woman who falls desperately in love with a rock star and marries him forthwith, leading everybody to believe her to be a groupie who landed on her feet, to the neglected wife with an addict for a husband, I admire how she took the courage to walk out but made sure that she took the black American Express card and had no qualms about using it to finance her future, amongst everything else she made Abe for in the divorce settlement.  Now a confident business woman, she knows what she wants, and while she loves Abe Bellamy, she’s no pushover and she definitely does not make it easy for him. She makes him work hard for every bit of the love and respect and, fortunately, he’s prepared and comes through with flying colors.

Along the way I loved how the author catches up with the lives of the other band members as they reach out to Sarah in friendship. We celebrate marriages and relationships, as Abe worms his way back into Sarah’s life, in a totally believable way. This book is definitely another winner in the a long line of winners from Nalini Singh. While all the band members are accounted for, I’m pleased to note that she plans to continue her contemporary series with characters we met in Rock Hard.

Grade: A

Summary:

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh continues her Rock Kiss series with a hot, sweet, emotional contemporary romance about love and forgiveness…

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love…even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?
