Book CoverC2’s review of Allegiance of Honor (Psy/Changeling, Book 15) by Nalini Singh
Paranormal romance released by Berkley 14 Jun 16

Can you feel it in the air, Faithful Reader?? The tingle of anticipation that happens when you know a most-wanted book is available? Because Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling books are always on my Most Wanted list and I know I’m not alone! So, does her latest installment meet the very high standard of her previous books? Onward!!

Ms. Singh has said that Allegiance of Honor ends one major arc of the series and sets up the next. So we get to catch up with all our favorites from previous books while the plot with the new cooperative efforts between the Psy, Changelings, and humans move forward and new enemies plot to divide the newly established accord.

Along with updates on the lives of most of the couples paired up in previous books, we find out more about the mysterious Black Sea Changelings – I am fascinated, Reader! We don’t find out everything, of course, but we get to see more of how they function. I believe Ms. Singh said we would see a lot more of them in the next story arc. Yay!

We also see hints of the mysterious group that wants to send the world into chaos – and how far they are willing to go to upset the delicate cooperative balance between Psy, Changeling, and Human groups.

It’s kind of a hard book to review, since there isn’t really a couple finding their way to each other – but all the couples we know and love (and some other non-coupled characters) each get their chance to shine. All I can say is, if you are a fan of the Psy-Changeling series, you do NOT want to miss this installment. I love the way she weaves all the characters throughout the book while still moving the overall plot forward. It doesn’t seem forced or weird…it just flows along. Kind of like moving from group to group at a family reunion. 🙂 Also – PUPCUBS!!!

Does this book stand alone? NO! (I’m looking at you, Sybs!) But if you are curious about the world, I highly encourage you to start at the beginning with Slave to Sensation. You won’t be sorry!!! And if you are, you may come back and yell at me.

For those of you who are up-to-date on the series, do you want to read this book? Yes, you do! There are so many sweet moments and some unexpected revelations that enrich the series, overall. It’s SO GOOD!

Summary:

The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: Old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: A child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable—and save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?
