Book CoverSandy M’s review of If She Dares by Tanya Michaels
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Blaze 15 Sep 15

This is my third Tanya MIchaels book in the last several months, and I’m definitely going to be reading more of her books in the future. I’ve had fun with each story so far, and that says quite a bit to me that more fun, along with charming characters, is definitely in store in If She Dares. I love being right.

Who hasn’t had fun for a while is our heroine, Riley. She was robbed and has been skittish ever since. I really like the first meeting between Riley and Jack – on a dark, rainy night, him covered in a hoodie roaming outside their apartment building, she’s scared but pepper spray at the ready. Jack has just moved into his apartment, but Riley has missed it all, so you can imagine her suspicions. But he’s sensitive to her nervousness, and that’s where I fell in love with him. He’s a forensic artist and has seen fear, anxiousness, and every other emotion imaginable when dealing with witnesses in police cases. Perfect background for our hero.

Riley has gotten into daring herself to do things to try to get back into life, and that practice is amped up when she and Jack are stranded in their building elevator. Terrific scene, starting with past skating-on-the-edge life confessions and suddenly Jack asks, “Have you ever kissed a stranger in the dark?”  Riley begins to enjoy fun little by little as she and Jack enjoy sexy and fun dares, all the while getting to know one another better and better.

Jack doesn’t believe in love, feelings and emotions like that are too often used for emotional blackmail. Oh, don’t we love a hero who has the farthest to fall when it comes to his heart? It may take him a while, but Riley and her newfound pup, her first foray into getting involved again by deciding to run for the board of directors for their building, learning more about her family, especially when meeting her sister Wren all come together in breaking down his walls when it comes to long-term commitment. Riley, of course, is discovering and rediscovering everything she can, and it’s wonderful to see her fear subside bit by bit as she falls in love with Jack.

A very heartwarming and fun – how many times have I said that now? – read. Take a chance like I did. I think you’ll like this Tanya Michaels too.

Summary:

“I dare you…”

Riley Kendrick has officially lost her nerve. Since being robbed last year, her spontaneous side—the fun side—has been completely MIA. That is, until her new neighbor moves in. Jack Reed, aka Mr. Apartment 4B, is over six feet of hard, sculpted hotness with a dimpled smile…one that suggests that maybe it’s time for Riley to get in touch with her once-naughty self.

Now the dares have begun. What started in an elevator has quickly escalated to a game of sexy challenges, each more daring than the last. It’s exciting, it’s wicked, and as far as Jack’s concerned, it’s a safe, no-strings fling. But every game has its limits…and Jack is about to discover just how dangerous a dare can get!
