Book CoverVeena’s review of By Break of Day (Night Stalkers, Book 26) by M.L Buchman
Military Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 02 Feb 16

M.L. Buchman does a slow and steady job in helping his readers become acclimated to the complex military world that he writes about.  While at times it might seem like the action takes a while to build up, boy, when you get to it, it’s spine tingling and nail biting.  I also totally enjoy the fact that the entire series is built around the protagonists of the first book, who’ve gone on to found a whole new series, but yet every story either features them in person or in deed as the ideal measure of performance the rest of the members of the team strive to meet.

Kara Moretti is a drone pilot from New York, the newest addition to the elite SOAR unit that is now on a floating battleship sailing around the hot spots in the world. She’s already proven herself in a previous story, but it’s time for her to get her very own HEA and for readers to learn a little bit more about what makes Captain Moretti tick. I enjoyed learning about the coffin and all the things that she can do with the drone while snug in a remote location.

Captain Justin Roberts is as opposite to Kara as it’s possible to be, with his slow-moving Texas drawl and cowboy hat, flying the heavy-weight division of helicopters. He is a crack-jack pilot and he can coax stuff out of his helicopter that will make him the stuff of legends. He feels the kick in the region of his heart when he first come across Kara and definitely proves the adage of opposites attract. Soon, for all their apparent sparks, they are working closely together on missions, as well as finding their way into each other’s beds.

Their mission is to stealthily insert a team in one of the most fortified air bases in the Middle East, and then, if one time isn’t enough, they need to go back in to extract the team safely as well. Between Kara’s drone and superb flying skills and Justin’s reflexes, they might just win the day and live to tell the tale.

Mr. Buchman delivers once again with his newest military romance, which puts men and women of courage and honor into impossible situations that test them under fire and spit them out on the other side, bright and shining and so soul deep in love that nothing can shake it.
