Book CoverSandy M’s review of Seduction Game (I-Team, Book 7) by Pamela Clare
Romantic Suspense published by Berkley 01 Jan 16

Unfortunately for me – and for some reason I can’t fathom – Pamela Clare’s I-Team series is one I have read only four of the twelve books (that’s including novellas) in the series. And I even have every one of those stories in my mountainous TBR pile. Shame on me. I’m definitely going to have to do something about that.

Ms. Clare knows how to give a reader something so very different than the norm, and she’s one of the best at romantic suspense. I love that her heroines are just as kick-ass as the heroes who will eventually fall head over heels for them. In this case it’s Holly Bradshaw who takes spying to a whole different level.

While Holly is not a full-fledged agent, she’s trained well and knows how to use her brains and body to the max when on a case. When it comes to planting surveillance devices and gathering much-needed information, among other things, for the FBI, she’s the perfect one for the job. Once in a while things do go wrong. Not only that, she’s got a tail she’s yet to discover – another agent who’s been ordered to get the goods on Holly because she’s now labeled a traitor.

Nick Andris is after an arms smuggler who got the best of his team during a mission, killing his lover while he watched. If trailing Holly will get him that much closer to his target, he has no problem doing what’s necessary to make that happen. But something’s not adding up, and for the first time Nick is beginning to doubt what he’s been ordered to do. When he gets the jump on both the smuggler and Holly, he takes the high road and ends up being pursued himself.

Thus truly begins the adrenaline rush that Pamela Clare puts a reader through, whether her characters are on the run or in the bedroom. It takes a bit for Nick and Holly to trust one another, so it’s fun to watch them watch each other, suspicious minds working overtime. But as their trust builds, watching them work together to clear their names, with the help of the I-Team, of course, is much more fun. You’re on the edge of your seat the entire time. You can’t put the book down. If you stopped reading, you just know you’d never get any more work done or you’d never sleep because you have to know what happens next.

I truly am a fan of Pamela Clare, though my paltry reading numbers in this series obviously refutes that claim. I am doing better, however – I just finished the latest novella in the series, so heads up for that review soon. I can’t imagine there’s a romance reader out there who hasn’t read any of Ms. Clare’s books. But if there is, don’t hesitate any longer to pick up any of her work. You won’t be disappointed one bit.

Summary:

CIA officer Nick Andris wants revenge. His last mission failed after a Georgian arms smuggler killed his lover. He’s been tailing a woman for three weeks hoping she will lead him to his target. But there’s a problem with the intel. Holly Elise Bradshaw is nothing more than an entertainment writer with a love for sex and designer clothes. Clearly someone at Langley made a mistake…

When Holly finds herself in trouble, the only weapons at her disposal are her brains and her body. But they won’t be enough to handle the man who’s following her. He’s going to turn her world upside-down.
