Book CoverTabs’ review of Unsung (Country Roads, Book 5) by Shannon Richard
Contemporary Romance published by Forever Yours 03 Nov 15

I have trouble saying no to “accidental pregnancy” plots. I guess because you get a romance and family package all in one go?  I dunno. I just know that I’m a sucker. So I ate this up with a spoon. Luckily, it’s a smart and charming romance, so the meal was pleasant.

Harper Laurence intends to spend the weekend that would have been her wending weekend, had her ex-fiancee not dumped her like a hot potato, in Nashville with her favorite aunt. Instead, she ends up in a sex marathon with hot guy, Liam James. Rough life, right? Unfortunately, Harper’s still on rough emotional ground after her last breakup, so she pulls a runner, despite love-at-first sight hitting both her and Liam right in the kisser.

Harper and Liam are really cute together. Things aren’t smooth sailing at first between Harper’s disappearing act, Liam’s busy touring schedule and commitments, and their impending parenthood, but there is definitely a sense that they’re building something that will last. Their “get to know each other” texts when Liam is on tour are ridiculously adorable. Who doesn’t love a little epistolary flirting in their romance?

This is a really sweet contemporary with protagonists that really fit together. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only real gripe was with the heavy exposition surrounding the characters from previous books. It was way too long and heavy-handed and distracted from the central romance. Despite that, I will definitely be reading more of the books in this series. The next one with Liam’s sister and her unrequited hockey player crush? Yeah, I’d like that one right now, please.

Summary:

Harper Laurence has been jilted on her way to the altar. Desperate for some time away from her friends and family, Harper takes off for Nashville-only to meet a hot, scruffy, tattooed stranger. A man she liked a little too much, and who left her the teeniest bit . . . well, pregnant.

Liam James is an up-and-coming country musician, who just found his muse. Ever since their weekend together, Liam hasn’t been able to forget the curvy, vivacious woman who left him wanting more, even as she inspired some of the greatest songs he’s ever written. He’s determined to convince Harper that he’s the guy for her . . . and that the best love songs can never be unsung.
