Veena’s review of Captured By The Sheikh (Rivals To The Crown of Kadar, Book 1) by Kate Hewitt
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents 01 Sep 14

This book is somewhat typical of this genre as the title suggests, but it has a few different twists and turns that take it out of the run of the mill and makes for interesting reading.

Elena is queen of a small principality in Europe. Being a young, beautiful woman, she finds that she’s not taken seriously by her advisors and feels she needs a husband who can help her hold her own. Her choice is Sheikh Aziz, but her plans get tossed for a curve when she’s kidnapped by Aziz’s rival for the throne.

Khalil is a sophisticated, beloved leader of the Bedouin tribe that were his mother’s people. His difficult childhood has made him determined take over as ruling sheikh over the kingdom. To do so he determines to prevent Aziz from ascending by stealing his bride and preventing him from fulfilling the terms of his father’s will.

Love has never been a factor for any of the players involved.

I enjoyed the relationship between Khalil and Elena, and clearly there is more than one surprise in store for readers as the story evolves along some twisted paths that cannot be envisioned when you pick up the book. All in all, a delightful romance and I am definitely intrigued to want to read Aziz’s story.

Grade: B
